I was at the smackdown where Edge cashed in his MITB against taker, and Edge got a freaking mega Hogan Jesus Pop to the max. Then on smackdown you just hear the same old fake hollow boo sounds. So lame. Had literally the same experience with both Matt Hardy and Christian at Smackdown tapings in Omaha. MEGA-huge reactions in person, on TV I could swear they took the volume all the way down to zero. They've also edited out anti-Cena reactions at shows I've attended.

imagine if there was a big comeback entrance and the people just didnt do anything. like if the message board + ad hype made the fans not interested. i get why they do it now though - it doesnt matter if they dont cheer - we will make them

Wow, that was a pretty amazing pop for only about 300 people in the arena reacting.

The worse thing is that the pop sounds completely unnatural. Still didn't stop the Indianapolis Colts copying them...

They actually also did it on RAW last week, during the segment where they showed Orton accepting Jericho's challenge from the previous weeks RAW. It's so obvious when they pipe in cheers, and boos for that matter
It'd probably help if WWE weren't so paranoid about crowd reactions, in recent years they've turned down the volume of the crowd during tapings so they can pipe in louder canned crowd reactions to suit who they want to go over, rather than letting the crowd actually dictate to them who they actually do and don't like...

I think they do in all of their shows. Watch Raw...there are times the crowd looks totally dead, but yet there's very loud cheers coming from the crowd.
How can that be without someone piping in cheers?

When you have to start piping in cheers, you should really take a hard look at the quality of the product you're producing.

100% true. It happens on virtually every taped WWE show. Pay close attention to SNME, or when Raw is taped and aired at a later date. What's horrible is that they've been using the exact same set of piped in cheers since about 2000 or so, and it is just SO obvious. And THAT is truly friggin' sad. But they've got a great product, that WWE does. Canned laughter, cheers, boos. They're tops.
