Longtime tag partners just don't have good feuds/matches. As I've said before, the wrestling angle that never works is the losing-streak-turning-face angle, and then right behind it are the former-tag-partners feud. (NOT faction members, but specifically when the two guys of two man teams feud)
Zayn/Generico-Owens/Steen and Janetty-Michaels and *maybe* Big Boss Man vs Akeem* are the exceptions. Matt and Jeff really didn't have all-timer matches until the 2016 Broken feud. I think people are mis-remembering how poorly received the Hardyz's Mania and Backlash matches were (not as bad as the Uso one was, and to be fair I've always thought positively of them and they've aged well, but people were down on them and the angle in general) Edge and Christian didn't really have the feud/matches they were capable of together until years later in AEW. Bret and Owen were brothers but didn't tag on WWF television until, what, the previous autumn? (not including the Memphis heel run that previous summer)
Nobody wants to see a tag team they like wrestle each other more than they'd want to see them wrestling together. Yes, the former tag partners feuding is unfortunately a trope, but the results have always, ALWAYS been so poor I can't understand why its become one for any reason other than it's the hackiest easiest thing to pitch. Booker T vs Stevie Ray, Road Dogg vs Billy Gunn, Bubba Ray vs D-Von, etc. They just don't click.
*This I hesitate to include as, while it was tag partners feuding, the feud was Boss Man vs their shared manager Slick driving the conflict when he wouldn't pay him for returning DiBiase's Million Dollar Belt on the road to Wrestlemania VI.

Absolutely fabulous match. While I still give a slight personal preference nod to the Takeshita match (my MOTY which I thought was flawless and as good of a match as you're ever going to see), this was still a five star affair with a perfect atmosphere and an outstanding build to "two gunslingers bringing out their best for a showdown"-type wrestling.
Since I think Bryan-McGuinness is a lock for Wembley, I think Osprey challenges for the world title at All In.

Hear me out: "Learning Tree" Jericho either feuds with or partners with a solo Max Caster...

Serious idea: if they kayfabe and real life want to blur things, make Jericho's "learning tree" reinvention deal with Max. Feud, partnership, just something together. Max gets to work with a vet, Jericho gets to keep someone in check.

The OJ-Cancer line on Saturday's Collision felt like something that wasn't cleared. I'm pretty sure it was cleared being that he said it and apparently all his lines have to be cleared now, but dude found the one way to make an OJ joke that made the teller look like an asshole.
And then the pee-tape line last night, ripped from 2016's headlines! Such a weird choice to end that kind of an extended set-up on. Especially after the court date punchline worked genuinely well on Saturday, mostly because that happened within the past week.
I'm not trying to evaluate him as a rapper anymore than I'd evaluate Duke Drose as a garbageman, but the gimmick worked because you'd just get 8 bars (4 total rhymes) and at least one or two would hit with the crowd. Going for an extended acapella street battle style rap could work *in theory*, but that would require every set-up to build and then the punchline being just amazing. Dude ended his set-ups with an 8 year old political joke and making light of sexual assault.

His last few years in WCW, he probably had his best chemistry with DDP.

My top five looks like this:
1) Jerichos' First "A Lion's Tale" 2) Mick Foley's First "Mankind: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks" 3) Bret Hart's First "Hitman: My Life in the..." 4) Scott Norton's "Strong Style" 5) Bob Backlund's "Backlund"
Even if you aren't a Norton or Backlund fan, those two books are so well written and those dudes LIVED LIFE! Great stories from all over the world in them from a genuine believable perspective. Highly, highly recommended.
The ones I'd say to avoid are Lawler and Moolah's as they're both written entirely in Kayfabe (except in Lawler's he comes clean about Kaufman, but that chapter was included as a bonus book in the Jake Roberts DVD), Ric Flair's book (he has since come out against it and fully rejects it) and the Hulk and Linda Hogan books as they're full of easily disprovable lies, with Linda's being so bad she had to issue a public apology over it.

Still wild to me that Jinder literally wrestled for "Tiger King" with photographic evidence and WWE didn't mention it at all at the height of the pandemic when everyone was watching it on Netflix and desperate for any new entertainment:

Dang, like how do you f*** up VEER?!
Seriously, on top of a great story, he's so genuinely stylish and cool on social media and interviews. He'll be a success wherever he lands next.

Dude's an underrated rapper too. Beyond the cool/funny entrance themes, his serious music is great.

Critically it might be the most acclaimed rap album of all time. A landmark of the genre, a behemoth of a debut, a paradigm shift - and it's just as potent now as it was 30 years ago. Happy Birthday to Nas' 'Illmatic!' I penned a 30th anniversary piece for The Current today, putting the album into a context that most retrospective pieces tend to miss - www.thecurrent.org/feature/2024/04/18/nas-illmatic-at-30-a-classic-album-still-in-a-class-of-its-ownWhere were you when you first heard it and what are your favorite tracks/moments from it?

Is this the first time in a while where next year’s WrestleMania wasn’t locked down before or during the present one? Because it’s weird it hasn’t been confirmed yet. I want to say that Wrestlemania VI's location wasn't known by Wrestlemania V - but I may be misremembering. Was the Hartford Civic Center known by Wrestlemania X? I haven't done a '94 or '95 rewatch so I could see it maybe being one of those two years as the most recent time. But for sure from 13 onward at the very least we knew it *by* Mania.

Kevin Owens and AJ Styles I'd say last Friday's three-way match on Smackdown was very good and their match on the indys in 2014 before either were WWE bound was good as well.

Absolutely ghastly. f*** transphobes of any and every kind. f*** transphobia of any and every action.\
The whole thing is just so vile with the deliberate use of male pronouns too. Cruel and time-wasting, and you just know every accusation is a confession with the types who would support such a ban.

He just main evented Dynamite two weeks ago, in a match for the World Title You picked a bad time to stop watching I guess lol Maybe it will happen again if/when I check out AEW again. And maybe as a longer program, like if TK re-ran the Sting retirement playbook, but have Dustin put on the line his goal for becoming world champion. He seemed positive in this interview that he'll be wrestling for a while yet. Man, you missed an amazing two promos from Dustin and Joe: https://www.instagram.com/p/C5cqZ1qu1M8 https://www.instagram.com/p/C5ctjYiObv2

I think at some point Danielson should have had the title - he had a bigger peak the Punk, was a bigger star than Punk in WWE and means more to the target demo and casuals for longer than Punk if only for being around for longer so sliding him into that feud with Hangman instead would have accomplished more - and I think the only reason he hasn't had it is because he non-kayfabe doesn't want it.
He's someone who just knows how to click with any crowd, we've seen him become the biggest star in every promotion he's been in the last 20 years, so it wouldn't be out of the question to easily heat himself up to get to that point again and reach that massive star power peak. But, I just think he doesn't want to.
Copeland I think AEW has been great for really showing off more of his talents and making him a more compelling performer than his most recent WWE return run. The build with him has been just what he and the audience needs rather than him being suddenly thrust into the world title picture on some TNA "what's Corner doing in the Impact Zone" shit.
