As a long term Metallica fan, shortly after St Anger (the album) came out, James Hetfield starting getting therapy and rehab for all his issues (alcohol, PTSD from friend death/burned on stage/abusive parenting/etc etc) rather than internalising them up and self-medicating. The songs he wrote as a mess in the 80s and 90s were better, but he himself seems to be in a much healthy situation this century most of the time. From what I remember from Some Kinda Monster he was getting help during the making of St. Anger. He did. I want to believe he came out of rehab the band started St. Anger and searching for a new bass player. He went back into rehab to finish it from what i recall watching. I know he had a couple more rehabs since but a better mindset since then.

Was Hulk Hogan on good terms with WWE around that time? I would think if they REALLY wanted the rights to Enter Sandman they could have had Hogan ask his old Pals to do him a solid this is a little beside the point but Hogan was definitely not on good terms with WWE in 1997
