Hey Crappers, I know there's quite a few guys in training on this board and I was wondering if you could give me hand in contacting a decent school somewhere in the TN area. I've tried to find a real list with contact info and descriptions but it's not an easy hunt. Any help's appreciated.

No further than Nashville for me. Why not just give Tazzwell a call? He can train you to be cruiserweight champ in like, a year.

I had heard that "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton had a school in Kingsport, but I've had no verification of it.

I only like 5'9 now at 18. But my dad grew from like 5'9 to 6'1 during the 6 months after he turned 18. Hope that happens to me. Just just cause its what promoters want, it just would make me feel more comfortable and credible. God DAMN I hope I grow just a couple inches. 5'11 and there would be no looking back, I'd do every little thing I could to make it.
Just in cause, is any 5'9 wrestlers doing good around the indies though? And not just crusierweights. That would be another thing, if I could get to 5'11 or ever further like my dad months after he turned 18, it wouldnt be as hard to get big and look credible...

Does he have a bad rep when it comes to training or something? Or is he just bad for "training, then not training", etc? I hadn't heard anything other than he had a school.

You know what I wish I could do? Get involved with the ole UWA based out of Knoxville.
Of course the shows have the theology of 100% chain wrestling, but it would be fun to get involved in some form or matter.
(Then again, went to a show once where an "Irish" tag team The Shamrocks, supposedly hailing from Dublin, were basically two boys from Mount Carmel trying their best Liam Neeson-mockery accent. Why not instead be "Scot-Irish"? You know, a joke on the region's heavy Scot-Irish ancestry, and have this tag-team have a guy coming out with a kilt, and the other with shamrock stuff. But again, who am I?)

I hadn't heard anything other than he had a school. Actually, unlike say Ricky "Child Support Dead Beat" Morton, Eaton was a rather nice guy, and a solid dependable ring worker. Always was. At least he was awesome when I met him once. Its just, the problem with wrestling in East Tennessee is, you have a promotion that changes its name every damn month from Southern States Wrestling to Tennessee Wrestling Association to Appalachian Wrestling Federation..............its hard to keep up with all that. Of course, UWA has been stable for the last few years (the first long-running East Tennessee rasslin promotion since the Continental Wrestling days of NWA)

I actually emailed UWA once to ask if they were looking for managers. They said they leave it up to the wrestlers, but asked if had any experience (which of course, I don't) so that ended any hope of getting into the business just then.

Honestly, I would have lied about "experience." I mean, you gotta start somewhere. Besides, whats the worse that happens? You lose the job? No better than if one DIDN'T have a job, right?

True. Well, it ended up maybe for the best, as I moved a little further away from the shows and wouldn't have been able to make it near enough to keep a job, should I have proven good enough.
And I've always thought Eaton was a great wrestler. If I were to decide to get into wrestling, I'd probably take a close look at getting trained by him.

Then again, I see how Scotty Bowden (of Kentucky Fried Rasslin column at comics101.com) went from wrestling geek fan to referee to really fun manager....I mean why not? Doesn't mean I would WORK really as a manager, but I'm good at peeving people off. "Wow, look at all these losers out here tonight. I see 3 or 4 deadbeat dads who probably skipping on their child support. Ricky Morton called, he asked fi any of you want to wrestle him sometime. I also see some housewives who need to go back home to eat their Oreos and watch Oprah, because their big bottoms are taking up several expensive seats at a time. Holy crap, there you ARE! I want to personally thank YOU for cleaning up my little mess in the men's room at McDonalds earlier today. If it isn't for people like you working such jobs......I would be speaking en espanola....E Tu?" Actually that sucked, but............*Jumps off a Roof*

He promotes Tennessee Mountain Wrestling. I think he has something to do with the Tennessee Bonding Company. I think he's been involved with several local promotions over the years. Pissed a lot of people off in the past by running cards with a lot of no-shows.

Dear God, I remember a show once where the top-belt champion didn't show, and the belt was defended "in abstantee" by one of the Tag Team Champions, but no explanation as to why he, with no kayfabe connections, would sub in for the champ.

Why has no one listed the famous stuff like the Funkin Conservatory, Harley Race's school and other things mentioned in the original "I want to be a pro wrestler"-type thread. I was fairly active in that one.

LOL that sounds like something from a Landell show alright.
I went to his Legends show this past Sunday. It started 45 minutes late, there was a wait of 10-15 minutes between matches, a guy's entrance music would play for 2 or 3 minutes before you'd see them heading for the ring, and the only legends who made themselves available to fans were Robert Gibson (who teamed with Jimmy Golden against some guy waving a Florida Gators flag and a nazi. Yes, a nazi. Black mask with a red swastika, waving a nazi flag), and Bob and Brad Armstrong. Buff Bagwell worked his table, but he's not a legend. Speaking of Buff, he spend about an hour in the ring doing polaroids, long after people in the crowd were yelling for the show to go on. Ron Wright talked to some of the fans at ringside, but the rest of us were screwed. Ron Garvin, Golden, Mongolian Stomper, and Bob Orton (who's promoted in TMW as "The Legend Killer's Dad") were not available at all.
Landell ran down another local promoter (at least I think that's what he was)who was in the crowd, essentially cutting a promo on the guy. He later beat up a plant in a wheel chair, stomping on his glasses first. (And in an odd twist, the entrance music for him and his heel group was that "I'm Coming Out" song. I thought it was going to be someone doing a gay gimmick)
That was my first and last Terry Landell show.
