It's match making, it happens a lot more in boxing. There have been times when under the old ownership, UFC's "worked" match making has blown up in their face (same with the new owners, I remember seeing some fights in 2002, or so, where it looked like the UFC was trying to bury Randy Couture by having him fight UFC's "Top Stars" in Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, and Couture kicked both their asses, convincingly, for an example). UFC is lucky right now IMO, not only because a) they are the only game in town, but b) they have options (being the only game in town), where no matter who wins, they can book fresh feuds, and have rematches, without UFC fans getting sick of the match-up. How many combat sports can say that? IMO, one of the pluses of having a deep talent pool, and running a show every month, instead of every week . That's about right. It's like Taboo Tuesday and Cyber Sunday. Not fixed, but they do try to set things up with matchmaking.

To beat a dead horse, yes Dana has a whimsical ranking system where whatever goes goes. But the fights, well, no one can be paid enough to willingly be kicked in the head by Cro Cop.

I always kinda viewed Couture as the guy who is sort of a hooker (if that is the right term). He is really good but also close with White and gets paid well, so he can put people over to help the business. It just seems weird that he put Liddell, UFC's golden boy, over twice, retired and then came back to get the title off, possibly, UFC's worst champ ever in Tim Sylvia.
I truthfully believe he was going to "drop" the belt to Cro Cop before Cro Cop got dropped

I don't think fights are pre-determined in the UFC, although there are cases of worked MMA fights (read: Takada's PRIDE fights, pretty much every Severn fight over the past 5 years). I more so think that White has his "Golden Boys" and tries his best to keep them in the spotlight. A recent Jason Barnett interview also re-affirmed this theory as he stated that himself and others have noticed White blatantly favoring certain fighters over others in order to maximize PPV draws and publicity. I think the UFC needs a concrete ranking system to better judge #1 contenders and match-making, because at the moment it just seems like White is throwing s*** at the wall trying to see what sticks. Oh yeah, I also think that White encourages trash-talking and "promos" from his fighters, which ironically makes the UFC seem like professional wrestling, something its constantly trying to seperate itself from, and it also damages the mainstream legitimacy of the UFC, something its trying to overtake from boxing. Long story short: Dana White is clown shoes. I'm sorry but I mark for Rampage's promos. "I'm gonna whoop Chuck's Aeeessss" I was talking about the groin-inducing shenanigans that happen in the octagon or at ringside. I'm all for the pre-fight interviews/hype videos, especially Jackson's; ever since he started in PRIDE he's always used those pre-fight interviews to have some fun and goof around.

I think some of the interviews are, I mean fueds where people seem like they don't like each other get more interest, but it's like everyone says, if the fights were a work, then they have the worst booking ever.

I love it when people think that UFC and all MMA is a work, you people are clueless. The feuds may be slightly worked, but so are boxing feuds, it's all about trash talking game to help promote the event
The fights are not worked, they are real, get over it.

I guess it's a southern california thing. But brohs are dudes who wear their hats to the side, wear sunglasses from blackfly/oakley, wear black/dark grey dickies with knee high black socks and of course DC shoes. They are mostly white, but there are black, mexican, and even asians who are brohs. They often are moody, are seen drinking from a red cup, and have stupid tribal tatoos. Yeah, I live in CA too, and the Bros are a big problem. You forgot to mention their lifted trucks also, that have huge off road tires and suspension, but have never once been driven off road.

I've seen an IFL fight that was definitely worked. Like you could see one guy talking the match when they went to clinch. All the other matches on the card looked legit though - they were boring as hell.
And when it comes to UFC judge's decisions, those are definitely manipulated.
But I haven't seen a UFC fight that looked worked. Haven't watched all that much of it, but what I've seen looked legit.
