Yeah, I got probably the best tickets available (front row, right side of the isle) for just fifty bucks. I'm actually going to the same show you're considering and went last time they came around as well. The general admission at that place is pretty damn sweet. For fifteen dollars you get bleacher seats only about ten or fifteen feet from the ring. I only got front row tickets this time because they were available at the last show I went to and, in my opinion, at RoH shows if you can't get front row seats there's no point in getting anything but general admission. I thought he was talking about Edison (since he said PPV)...and the GA there is terrible, now that I'm thinking about it. Hmm, October 5th is Boston though. Didn't think they were filming a PPV there anyways.

Boston seems to be getting the shaft these days. I mean, Death Before Dishonor Night 1 was great but I heard Night 2 was even better. And now this...damn you RoH.

I wouldn't be surprised if Boston got announced for a PPV somewhere down the line -- you guys have been getting great shows, so if the attendance stays high, you'll get rewarded.

I'm going to the PPV in Edison. I wish I was going to Boston, that Aries/Dragon match can be great.
But I'm getting Aries/Strong so I guess we're both having good shows.

uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rHjqATJNxjcthat pretty much sums it up. even at a fairly low-key show, you are still likely to see at least two PPV quality matches, and the performers really go out on a limb to try and sell the product to you. it's like a shock-free version of ecw. and even though everyone talks about the great ROH matches, there is also a tremendous array of great talkers and managers. and like everyone's said, the tickets are cheap, so just go there with an open mind. if you like it, fine, if you don't at least you tried, but i'm sure you'd rather go and hate it than not go, discover ROH a few years too late, and regret not going.

Check out some of the Video Wires they have on rohvideos.com or youtube. You're seemingly only judging the wrestlers by their names without even seeing who they are. Telling all of them apart is no issue when you watch it (unless it's Irish Airbourne). And just because you haven't seen these guys before doesn't mean they suck or "are really emo"

ROH is holding a PPV October 5th right by a place I pass everyday going to work. I've talked to some friends, and we're gonna try to go see it. But I can't figure out why. I don't get what ROH is all about. I've posted something like this before, but let's make this current. What about the ROH product should hook me? Reading this "Project 161" thing makes me semi-interested in ROH. I like the whole hanging guys upsidedown thing, but I don't like the emo stable. Or the thing where theres like 7 stables for the entire fed. It's been played out before...the time for stables is over, unless you have an elite Horseman like group. Anywho, reading the rosters of these stables, I grow even more disinterested. Who the smurf are half these guys? And where did they come up with these dumb roster names? Like I said in another post, they all seem really emo. Some people like it, but I think it's dumb and pointless. Plus, how can you tell all the talent apart? When they all use their real names and don't use stage monikers, it bores me. I like creative names for guys. Like Cactus Jack and Vader. How am I supposed to get behind a BJ Whitamer or a Jimmy Jacobs when he sounds just as generic as the guy he's facing? What gives each of these guys the presence of being "better than the rest" and being a true star. I think each wrestler should be unique and try to stand out to the crowd to try to outshine everyone else in the roster in at least one way, and a name is a big part of that. Again, why should I care for someone named BJ Whitamer or Claudio Castaravoli or whatever? Coming in new, these guys have no face value to me. This is where the Briscoes and Delirious stand out to me though, because they have unique looks. After bashing the company everyone holds so damn dearly, please, try to get me into it, using current events and matches with people on the roster now. I'm sure ROH was good when Punk and Raven and Joe and AJ and Daniels were on it, but don't show me those. I wanna see stuff from now. I want to get behind it. It's like me and Linux, I always wanted to get into it to stray from Windows, but its not until I actually tried it I fell in love. I will tell you what I tell people about CHIKARA: If you need it to be sold to you, it's probably not your cup of tea.

There's this PPV. We got DBDn1 (though I'll reserve judgement on which is better when I see n2). We got Dedicated before Battle of the icons and the start of the FYF. SOTF 2005 was the show immediately proceeding Joe v Kobashi. Stalemate came right before Manhattan Mayhem. It All Begins was the last show before the start of the Third Year Aniversary. And then, the one year Boston WAS part of the aniversary series, the Second Year, it was the show RIGHT before At Our Best. Oy. Not that I'm complaining, mind. I've been to all those shows, some are better than others, but every time I felt I got my money's worth and then some.

I'm not undermining what they give us, but it seems like they plan the better cards for the events AFTER Boston. Maybe we just don't have a big enough venue for them yet.

Maybe we just don't have a big enough venue for them yet. That's the killer. I always thought they should try going to Lowell. The Lowell Auditorium would be ideal, or maybe even section off parts of the Tsongas. No idea what kind of costs or negotiations that would require, though.

Is there like a set date I need to buy tickets by or can I buy them at the door? I should probably check the place out, but I'm a busy man who works.
I was like this with ECW too, albeit my father took me and I was 8, but at the time I liked Doink and stuff...and then ECW turned me into a pre-teen. Then going to ECW shows was like the best thing in the world. The environment couldn't be matched. I think ROH captures that, but I haven't seen much of the product, and like I said, I'm a busy guy, I don't have much time to catch up on it.
Maybe I'm being too skeptical, but I really do wanna start to love ROH. I do feel it's the new ECW, but I still can't tell if it's for me or not.
And Chikara is TOO kiddy for me. By character development, I guess I should say look/attire/name. What I loved about ECW was Paul's mind for characters. Taz, RVD, Little Guido, LSD, hell, even guys like Louie Spicoli were cool, because everyone had a different look, a different name, and just they all felt apart from each other.
Now, if I give you 2 names, and you don't know either, which one sounds like the cooler guy? New Jack or Jimmy Jacobs? That's kinda where I'm bringing this. Talent only takes you so far. You need to differenciate yourself from the roster to get over, IMO. I don't feel a lot of that in ROH. Maybe I'm wrong, but list me the roster to ECW (f***, even WCW) and if you don't know ANYONE on the roster, by names I'm sure ECW sounds like the cooler guys, and given the image, I'm sure ECW would have the more unique filled out roster.
Maybe I'm looking for the word "repeat". Again, I don't know the ROH roster, but to me it seems like there are a lot of "Good Mat Wrestler #n" guys on the roster. Sure, they are good, but it seems like if they get put down, there are 4 other guys on the roster who basically do/say/wrestle/look the same way he does.

I tried it, I didn't like it. I just can't bring myself to watch poorly produced wrestling shows with guys in black trunks who I can't tell apart. The wrestling is good, but I can't get into it story wise.

If you really want to go to a live show, then definitely do it. If you're going to Friday in Boston, youll probably be able to go at the door and buy GA tickets. Edison on Saturday, since it's the PPV, you might need to grab online. I see your points and understand them, but even though many of the wrestlers use either their real names or names that sound real (i.e. The Briscoes), they're still all unique. And for what it's worth, ROH is something that really needs to be experienced live. Before my first show, I watched one ROH DVD and found myself unable to look past so-so production values and people I've never heard of and turned it off half way, despite the matches being good (it was Manhattan Mayhem, btw).

The wrestling is good, but I can't get into it story wise. That's what I'm worried about. In "my day" (yeah, because I'm so old), the guys dressed in like jeans and the way grungy people did in the 90s. ROH seems like REAL competition, its more about whats going on in the ring than who is in the ring. And I kinda don't like that. I need to like a guy going in before a match can invoke any emotion out of me. I'm sorry, but I do not get entertained by submissions and the occasional spot, unless the guys in it feel real to me. Can't really explain it, but to me, the talent is more important than the sport. It's like watching football without a favorite team. Yeah, you can do it, but it's not as fun.
