I'd probably place him even lower than that. I didn't hate him or anything; I just really wasn't into him at all. They didn't really do much with him. It just seemed like they said, oh BTW here's the World Champ.
1)Danielson 2)Joe 3)Punk 4)Aries 5)Gibson 6)Low Ki 7)Morishima 8)Homicide 9)Xavier

I'd rank him somewhere between you two.
1. Danielson - faced a better pool of talent than any other champion in any other promotion in recent memory. 2. Joe - made the title into something special. 3. Punk - Sheer entertainment. 4. Aries - went around the world non-stop for six months. 5. Morishima - a lot of great matches, defenses in Japan, arguably defended the title in two of the best matches I've ever seen. 6. Gibson - short but memorable. 7. Low Ki - I mean, he was the first. 8. Xavier - not much to say beyond the fact that his gimmick was that he wouldn't defend the title. 9. Homicide - the win was amazing, but there was really nowhere to go from there.

I thought he had a good reign, but I was really tired of him about half way through. Nothing bad from him ever though, solid enough.
1) Danielson 2) Aries 3) Joe (there were stretches where this reign really bored me.) 4) CM Punk 5) Takeshi Morishima 6) James Gibson 7) Xavier 8) Homicide 9) Low Ki

I don't get why most title reigns in ROH are
"Guy wins title with no build up and is solidified through the belt"
I liked Danielson, Punk, and Homicide being built to win the titles.

Not to sound rude, but because they know it works. If some guys has what it takes to be an ACE, but it just isnt totally clicking and getting over, the belt can get him there everytime.

but see IMO the Belt shouldn't be used as a prop to get somebody to that "next level", the belt signifies the best in the company.
When Morishima, Joe, Xavier, Gibson, and Aries won it they were nowhere near the best in the company.
I know through the reign they became the champ, but eh.
Which is weird since I loved JBL's reign from the start.

For me, the champs would go: 1) Joe 2) Danielson 3) Punk 4) Aries 5) Morishima 6) Gibson 7) Homicide 9) Xavier 9) Low Ki Jed Shaffer ~ One defense? Welcome to the basement, Low Ki.

I know i just don't really take ROH or their title all that seriously
but for the sake of the topic.
1. Danielson 2. Samoa Joe 3. Morishima
These 3 are pretty much the only "reigns" in ROH since they lasted for a long ass time.
4. CM Punk 5. Low Ki

I know i just don't really take ROH or their title all that seriously Then, not to be rude, but why are you even in here discussing it? If you don't like 'em or their title, that's fine and dandy, but there's no need to come into a thread where people who like it are discussing the promotion and trash it. Jed Shaffer ~Belts have to contribute to the person. You can't be a true champion until you've held the belt. That's just logic.

Yeah Punks was only two months, but it was probably the most interesting title reign. It garnered the most interest of any champion.
True Joe's reign was huge for ROH. He carried the company coming out of the Feinstein saga. I believe his reign meant more to ROH, but Danielson's was the best. The frequency he defended the title, against pretty much every top indy name in wrestling.

I don't know about Morishima's ranking in the history ROH, but you know what?
Symbolically, it represented the time when the ROH World Title became truely a world championship, in my eyes, especially when Japan's Morishima dropped his belt to a limey.
Really, having the ROH belt really makes you a complete somebody.

I want to add that in the past 24 hours, I have watch Morishima vs. Claudio, Albright, C&A, and Danielson (MM2).
The Danielson match was pretty damn good, but no where near a ***** match like people were saying. Personally I loved the Albright defense. Brent worked over the arm really well to set up the fujiwara. Those consecutive half-nelsons at the end had me marking out huge! That was one of the best "true heavyweight" bouts in 2007.

The list would be longer but they're the only ones I've watched with the belt.

I stand by my ranking of Morishima's reign, but I really don't hold it against him. ROH never really did much with him except occasionally hype the fact that he would defend it in NOAH now and then. Like I said, every show just felt like they were saying, oh yea, BTW here's the champ.
