Don't get me wrong. It was a pretty good TV match. But, I dunno, I kinda felt these guys should've had a lights-out match, a real broadway (though it's kinda hard to do with only 20 minutes, but still).
I also feel the match really exposed Kaz' weaknesses, such as (OPINION WARNING) his weak selling and his lack of emotion displayed in the ring. But I certainly feel he had upper-midcard, if not main-event potential.
Good match, but it could've been great.

The Impact Zone fans are easy to get excited. That much is obvious. They were not popping for Kaz at all. If those people cant buy him as a main eventer, why should I? I think he could do awesome things as XD champ, and maybe in a year or so, let him get a run like this. However, bringing him out of left field and making him a main eventer isnt as simple as flipping a light switch. The match was good, but all that effected it.

No, am I with you on that. It was a good match but, I don't know, didn't make me see Kaz any different. He still seems like a guy that belongs in the X Division or (if TNA had one) mid card title scene.
This and the FFTR did wash the stink of Serotonin off of him though.

He really needs to improve his promo skills...I "loved" the generic underdog babyface promo he gave to Borash before the match....NOTE THE SARCASM IN QUOTES.

Put Daniels in there against Kurt and it would've worked.

It was okay, not fantastic though. The whole thing came across as very anticlimactic. Watching it I felt like; "I waited a month for this?"

Angle looks like he's about to break apart.

I'm not sure I understand; the match did a ton to establish Kaz against a very effective champion.
As for the Impact Zone fans, they're really not easy to make happy. If anything, you have to kill yourself to get them all giddy, which is awful in a lot of regards.
Hell, watch the Lethal vs. Dutt match from Genesis; solid match, good action, some nice character interaction, but too slow for the crowds' liking, so a lot of them didn't pop much for it. Many did show it some respect, which is obviously cool (in that polite Japanese-crowd fashion), but the Impact Zone is infamous for not handling slower-paced matches well.
And that could be an issue, as TNA has done a nice job of slowing down the pace of some of their longer matches of late. It makes the match quality even better, but a lot of those fans have "Crowd ADD", which is unfortunate.
Anyway, I wasn't expecting a total PPV level match, but it was lengthy, it went back and forth...though I do wonder why they couldn't get the Flux Capacitor off right.
I dug the ending, though; Angle has to dig into his amateur wrestling bag of tricks to put Kaz down, and just barely, at that.

I think a lot of the reason the fans didn't go for it is because not a soul in the building thought Kaz was going to win.

True, that was another major problem.

I think a lot of the reason the fans didn't go for it is because not a soul in the building thought Kaz was going to win. Yeah, I'm sure they knew tha going in, thats why Angle tried to make Kaz look like a credible challenger and it's probably the reason they used a somewhat undecisive finish. The point of the match was to make Kaz look as good as possible in 15 minutes without him actually winning, they did it perfectly without any run ins (aside from the small Karen distraction). It was great and the aftermath was very good too with Kaz and Kurt's face off, the stuff with Hall, Nash, and then Joe running out. Overall it was a strong way to end the show, much better than most wrestling show endings I've seen in a long time as it wasn't the same as evey other weeks or an obvious ending (like ECW and Raw's most weeks).

I liked the ending. Everyone knew that Angle would win, so having him pull it off in an unexpected way like that added to the match for me.

Once Kaz kicked out of the low blow/Angle slam, I think it erased some peoples expectations for a sure win for Angle.

I was pretty disappointed by the ending. I would've like to have seen a pin that I could recognize. It didn't even look like Kaz' shoulders were down.

I think you guys are insane personally lol(in your wrestling opinions only). Check out the thread I started this morning if you want to know why. I never start Tna threads but I thought this fantastic match was worth it...

What killed some of the excitement for me was this whole long "Fight for the Right" tourney that was hyped like crazy, and the payoff's a TV match, not even a week after the tourney ended.
If they REALLY wanted to build Kaz as a threat they should have held off till the PPV. Sure it MAY not have been the selling point of the match, but like WWE, TNA could have built a huge undercard match that sold the PPV(the Outsiders vs. TomStyles or Booker vs. Christian), and had a solid slow burn to build Kaz as a legitimate threat.
The match, while really good for a tv match STILL had a slight aura of throwaway match to it.

Please tell me I wasnt the only one who spent more time paying attention to the fact that Angle wrestling in reeboks than paying attention to the actual match.

Angle looks like he's about to break apart. didn't notice. in what way? What killed some of the excitement for me was this whole long "Fight for the Right" tourney that was hyped like crazy, and the payoff's a TV match, not even a week after the tourney ended. If they REALLY wanted to build Kaz as a threat they should have held off till the PPV. maybe they didn't REALLY want to build up kaz as a threat. that is one thing people seem to have trouble with. they say why waste this match on impact, why not develop it and make him look like a threat. simple. because they aren't trying to push him into main event right now. they are trying to elevate him to upper mid card. so they simply had little build up and then he shows up in the match and almost beats kurt elevating him. kurt almost got beat by kaz because he was looking past him, and kaz gets bumped to upper mid. you people act like they are trying to find a way to make kaz the king of the company in two weeks time. no, they are simply elevating his position in the company.
