WHAM! Duran Duran never saw it comin'! ---------------------------------------------------------- (some random funny comment on the contenders) Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died In Your ArmsFirst released in Britain, the song peaked at #4 on the UK charts in August 1986. Upon its release in the United States, it shot to number one on May 2, 1987, and stayed there for two weeks. Vs. Tiffany - I Think We're Alone NowAmerican singer Tiffany covered the song for her first album Tiffany (1987). The song spent two weeks at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 (and was unusually followed on the top spot by another Tommy James & the Shondells cover, "Mony Mony" by Billy Idol) and three weeks at number-one on the UK Singles Chart. The Tiffany version went quadruple platinum in the US in a thirteen week chart run. The video was shot in a shopping mall which echoed the way her early career had been promoted. When George Tobin, Tiffany's manager, gave Tiffany the cassette of the original version by Tommy James & the Shondells, Tiffany hated the idea of recording a version of her own for her album mostly because she thought the song wasn't modern or hip enough. It turned out to be her biggest hit once she recorded it. "I Think We're Alone Now" was not the first single off of Tiffany's debut album. The first single was "Danny", but radio started picking up "I Think We're Alone Now", another track on the album. It became a runaway number-one hit. It became the eighteenth highest selling single for 1987[1]and the thirty-second highest selling single in Australia for 1988

"I Think We're Alone Now", which gave us one of Yankovic's parodies.

Cutting Crew slices and dices their way to victory. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Including this one, we only have 10 more matches for Round 2! Culture Club - Karma ChameleonThe Karma Chameleon music video is set in Mississippi in 1870, according to caption. It depicts people in colourful costume, including dancers in "red, gold and green", waiting on a riverbank. Boy George is dressed in even more colourful and flamboyant costume and is depicted singing the title song. A pickpocket is seen wandering through the crowd. A riverboat, The Chameleon, arrives and people board. A game of cards takes place, with Boy George still singing in the background. The pickpocket is discovered cheating and is forced to walk the plank. Throughout the video, black and white people are depicted singing and dancing together. It was filmed at Despra Island in Weybridge. Vs. Janet Jackson- Nasty"Nasty" is the second single from Janet Jackson's third album Control. Released in 1986, the single peaked at three on Billboard Hot 100 and one on its R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks, and remains one of Jackson's signature songs. The song was Jackson's autobiographical account of confronting abusive men who tried to force their hand on her. Paula Abdul was one of the backup singers on the track. The lyric, "My first name ain't baby, it's Janet, Miss Jackson if you're nasty" became a national catchphrase. The song won Favorite Soul/R&B Single at the American Music Awards. It ranked thirty on VH1: 100 Best Songs of the Past 25 Years.

I do feel bad voting against my childhood idol. I'm one of the five people who bought Tiffany's second album. I vote Nasty.

Loving would be easy If the colors were like my dreams Red, gold and green Red, gold and green I'm taking that as a vote for the Club? If so, Culture Club wins, new match coming.
