Do you consider people are play Guitar Hero or any of the band games musicians? Leaving out the people who are already musicians.
and
What do you musician types out there think of the game?
It's all part of my is Guitar Hero the big wave in music study. It seems like it's the only thing besides reunion concerts that are making any money for the music biz.

Do you consider people are play Guitar Hero or any of the band games musicians? Well, no. They're playing a game, not creating music.

Sweet Moses! Who is that sig?
Funny you mention Guitar Hero. I almost bought GH2 for the PS2 today since Circuit City is selling the bundle for $50, but after I played the demo of GH3 on the 360, I just couldn't get int the mood to buy it. So I left empty-handed.

They're not making the music themselves... they're just hitting the button at the right time to continue the computer game itself to continue playing the preprogrammed music in it.

I was hoping the question would be 'How the hell can anyone play this crap?'
And of course not. They are still playing the game, despite using a ridiculous looking controller. Guitar Hero is FAIL.
However, I'll play it with a regular controller anyday. Reminds me of Frequency and Amplitude, but easier.

If by Fail you mean fails to be unfun, then you are correct.

Opinion, not fact. In any event, no, guitar hero players are not musicians.

Right now, there are many reasons why i consider your pretentious and snippy comeback to be possibly the biggest offense ever heaped on the English language, not least of which having a very shitty week. So i'm done with this thread.

No. If you play Mortal Kombat it doesn't mean you are a killing machine.

I wasted $80 on Guitar Hero 2. It's a great game for a few days, but after that it's just a great dust collector.

one of these days... people will be able to give their opinions without seeming to be pretentious dicks... untill then, i will begrudgingly log onto the internet every day and try to ignore the idiots.
anyway... i'll actually respond to the thread with a REAL answer, instead of a snide remark used to piss of fans/non fans of the game... novel idea, i know...
As far as musicians? Nah, i really don't think so. It's more of a musician simulation. Not so much actually making music.
As far as what do musicians think of the game... I consider myself a musician, and I frankly love the game. Some days I just don't feel like picking up a guitar and frustrating my face off trying to actually learn something... Guitar Hero is like playing an instrument... But only for dummies, lol. It's much easier, and you get a similar sense of accomplishment from playing it. You can sit down and play through Raining Blood on GH3 and afterward you can say "man, i kicked that songs ass... that was fun" Or when you hit a good long line of hammer ons and pull offs, there really is a sense of accomplishment that comes along with it... It's fun...
Thats just my two cents, Tune In Tokyo

I agree that while musicians and non-musicians can enjoy the game in the same way the elderly can enjoy a nice round of Wii bowling or tennis, I would not consider them musicians nor athletes in the sport or art. Someone hit on it that we must not forget that they are simulators.
Any thoughts as to whether this may lead to an industry changeover. The dance thing pretty much kept dance alive so far as I can tell. The ones that got good at the game , got pretty damn good at dancing so far as I can tell.
Is the dance and the guitar game or the drum game equal?
What about stripper Wii?
