I actually watched all of them just recently. Well, all the theatrical released ones at least.
1.) Phantasm (animation rules!) 2.) Begins 3.) '89 4.) Returns 5.) Adam West: The Movie (the joke might work for 30 minutes at a time, but it wears pretty thin at an hour and 40 minutes) 6.) and Robin (terrible to the point of being funny) 7.) Forever (the stuff I liked about the movie when I was eleven has become just f***in' irritating to me now...including Jim Carrey's uber-hamminess)

Interesting choice...although I agree Carrey is way too hammy as the Riddler.

1989 Begins Batman Returns Mask of the Phantasm
I wont bother ranking anything else, and they aren't in order of best to worst, just my personal favorites.
I just picked up a Double Feature DVD set, Mask of the Phantasm and Sub Zero, it's been forever since I've seen MOTP so yeah ;D I'm excited. I never paid much attention to SZ...hopefully it's sweet.

Batman Begins wasn't that great. There were too many fast cuts, Scarecrow was underdeveloped, and it seemed rushed towards the end. Overall I think Batman (1989) was a better movie. That's pretty much how I feel, too. They could've done much more with the Scarecrow. He was really a side character and he should've been the main villain.

Batman and Robin is soooooo bad I can only rationalise it by saying that they must have intentionally wanted to make a bad movie, because I cannot believe for one second that Warner Bros and Joel Schumacher actually thought "hey....this is good" while they were making it.

Right now, Batman Begins is my favorite. It was the most faithful adaptation of the modern era Batman that's ever been done. The outfits and the Batmobile may have looked different, and some minor canon tweaks here and there, but overall it was a fantastic representation of the work of Frank Miller and Jeph Loeb. I'm looking for Dark Knight to continue that streak. As of right now, my list is (not counting animated features or the 1966 film):
1) Batman Begins 2) Batman (1989) 3) Batman Returns/Forever/& Robin (I feel all three of these suck equally. Terrible adaptations of Batman.)

In schumaker's defense he said that it was actually WB who wanted to make the films more "toyetic" and lighter after the complaints from parents over the sex and killing children stuff in returns. Of course, he also said he wanted to do an adaption of year 1, which would be "interesting" to say the least.

Schumacher wanted to do a gritty Miller-esque Batman and Warners forced him to make the camp-fest films. Poor guy still takes the blame for those movies. It was that idiot Jon Peters that screwed up the Batman films, not Joel Schumacher.
