Which do yall like better. Whether its which you like better or which you think is scariest.
For me its fast zombies.
I'd rather have a group of 100 slow "ominous" zombies stumbling slowly towards me then like 3 fast zombies. Fast zombies are scarier cause you can actually imagine yourself getting caught and not surviving. Its believable that the whole world could be taken over by them.
If you get caught by slow zombies its prolly cause you were stupid and you messed up. Anyone can get caught by fast zombies. And in Dawn of The Dead and 28 Days Later (church) whenever they were together they looked just as menacing as slow zombies.
The 28 Days/Weeks Later (they're zombies, you know this. Yeah its "Rage" but yeah...zombies.) ones are the absolute scariest. Where it takes like 10 seconds to change. Just one zombie can start a huge chain reaction of people turning and killing. One of those things busts in where a large gathering of people is and they're pretty much done. And it doesnt hurt that something like that Rage virus really does seem like it could happen...

Fast zombies make even less sense then slow zombies, so I prefer the 'classic' movie version. If my body had been stripped away by decay, I doubt I'd be a master sprinter.

If I'm watching something zombie-related that's supposed to scare me, slow zombies.
In any other instance, I don't care if they're fast or slow. Heck, I've written short stories about fast (SELF-AWARE) zombies in the past, so I'm not exactly a tradition-minded guy...

You, my good sir, are incorrect. 28 Days/Weeks Later were not zombies in no shape or form, they were just living people infected by a diesease. Sure, it took alot to put one down (because the diesease blocked out any pain one might feel I believe), but they could be killed by conventional means. I mean, at the end of days, you see a couple of them too weak to move because they were almost dead from starvation. If one was killed by one, the corspe did not reanimate, it stayed dead (although I could be wrong on that). Finally, the infected weren't out to eat you, they were out to kill you (sure they bit people, but biting is another way to cause damage... saw a couple times where the infected just beat someone down with their fists). So in the end, I think thats why I (like you, it seems) found those movies so darn scary, it seemed like something that could actually happen... like some sort of super rabies virus was released.

Fast zombies are scarier cause you can actually imagine yourself getting caught and not surviving. Its believable that the whole world could be taken over by them. I've heard this argument before, but I think people who say this don't really stop to consider exactly what it would mean if there really was an outbreak of zombies. (Not that you should. I can't believe I ever think about it. ) Slow zombies could indeed take over, if for no other reason than by sheer numbers. The fact is, when the dead are returning as zombies, unless you blow your head off and/or cremate your remains, you will inevitably be one of them. (Or, of course, if you're just completely devoured them.) Someone could live a long and happy life amongst a world of the dead, maintaining some sort of security perimeter and taking precautions and all that. Hell, they might never even come into contact with a single zombie, but once they die--as we're all doomed to do--they'll join the ranks of their shambling neighbors. So if there really ever was a true zombie outbreak--won't happen, obviously, but for the sake of argument--fast or slow, zombies probably would eventually overtake the planet. The only difference is, with fast zombies it wouldn't take as long.

fast zombies are scarier to me...but that doesn't mean I want all zombie movies to have fast zombies

For me a combination of both would be preference.
It would make sense for freshly reanimated corpses to still be able to move quickly and since they're bodies aren't worried about pain or exhaustion right away - I could see them moving fast and being really strong.
But that only last a while and then the bodies would decay turning them into slow moving zombies.

Slow zombies just seem way more menacing, especially in large groups. And in a confined space. *shudder*

Slow zombies are the best kind, but the kind that run are more scary. The only way a slow moving zombie can hurt you, is if you are in a small, confined place, or there are lots of them. The running kind, well, you're pretty much f***ed.

Slow zombies are cooler and more 'realistic', but fast zombies are so much scarier.

I generally prefer slow zombies, but one of my favorite zombie movies is "Nightmare City" in which zombies not only run, they carry weapons, and the main object of their appetites seems to be female breasts.
I don't really care one way or the other, but there've been plenty more classics in the "slow moving" side of the genre, so I guess I have to give that the edge, just a little bit.

Slow, dumb, but strong zombies.
Not strong as in they have mega strength, but as in there dead they don't care if they bang on the door a billion times and break there arms because there dead.

Slow.
The mental image of the shambling hoard and the moans coming from them are what give you nightmares.

Thing is, logically, on a world full of slow zombies, given enough time you could eliminate them all. Think about it- you and a bunch of others. Bomb around in cars, switching vehicles when neccessary or filling up on deserted gas stations, on a rota so there's always somebody driving, that way no zombie can ever catch you. Load up with guns, breaking into a military base if need be. Blow zombie brains out, and sooner or later you'll have got rid of them all, so the survivors scattered around the world will be safe. Or at last you'll have wiped out all the zombies on your continent so you will be safe at least.

I can understand FAST zombies bein' so scary. There's almost no chance. But this really aint much different from gangs and mobs rioting through the streets pillaging and killing. I mean, bring out the fire-hoses and the megaphones. It just has no "style".
The reason SLOW zombies are so scary ... is that, somewhere in the back of our minds we're thinking, "C'mon. They're not THAT hard to beat, after all. They're slow. If you move fast enough, or hit them in the head with something . . . you can get away pretty easy. Just stay cool." 'Cept . . . every once in a while even the smartest people find themselves goin', "Oh crap . . . I'm cornered!" or, "Oh, crap . . . gun jam!" or "Oh, crap, there's just too many of them!!"
And THAT'S really scary: the possibility of a SUDDEN REALIZATION where you might accidently let yourself get cornered . . . that somehow you defeated yourself. It's that wide-eyed moment of disbelief that they actually got you . . . as you get swarmed and ripped apart . . . thinking, "Oh god.. I can't believe they actually . . . I let myself get . . . I underestima - - !!"
So what's scariest to me is the way they make us . . . toy with the idea that we can take chances with them . . . as they lumber along all seemingly weak . . . yet secretly - collectively - waiting for you to make that one arrogant mistake.
Shiver me timbers!

Slow ones. You underestimate them then can't get away. Fast ones you would get in a sports car and get the f*** out.

Slow ones. You underestimate them then can't get away. Fast ones you would get in a sports car and get the smurf out. My friend, one should never, ever, underestimate a zombie.
