I guess it hasn't changed that much, which is good. I have faith in this film because its directed by Marcus Nispel. He treated the chainsaw series well (IMO), so I hope he does just as well this time around. So is this another "reboot" type of thing? If so, they're messing it up, already! Jason wasn't the original killer, and he never wore the hockey mask until the 3rd movie! If I've got this wrong, please correct me.

I dunno why Jason hasn't gone out and got himself a more modern looking goalie mask......I mean, they are everywhere now.

If I've got this wrong, please correct me. It's gonna be bad. But then, most remakes nowadays are, aren't they? Hollywood don't care. Hollywood just don't care.

Cool. I just hope they have him look like the Jason from 4. Before his brain was sticking out and he had gray long hair. Id really like the mask to be kinda cleaner since apparently this is the first one. A white mask looks way more scary too.
Good to know its got an alright director. TCM (03) was good...

Without these reboots, do you think they'd continouslly make more and more direct (and increasingly lame) sequels or do you think the whole genre of the legendary slasher flicks would fade into obscurity?
I have personally enjoyed a lot of these reimaginations of classic slasher flicks for what they are but even if you are a little picky about people touching your cinema legends, what would you rather them do? We've all seen how making new "legends" turn out. There is some ok stuff, but the icons just aren't being made anymore.

They should follow up on Jason X. I mean, I'm willing to bet that he survived, as he always does. Are they just going to count that and his awesome "X" attire as non canon? Maybe they feel that whoever did that movie wrote themselves into a corner. Now, nobody would believe that he could ever be killed, even for movie resolution. I need to stop watching this damn movie lol.
Anyway, the Halloween remake left a sour taste in my mouth. I should feel differently about this one because I've read the questions the writers want to answer. Plus, the Friday the 13th franchise isn't as sacred to me as the Halloween franchise. They said they were going to take bits and pieces from the first 3 movies and combine them into one. That doesn't sound too bad to me.

Nispel treated the CHAINSAW series well?
I guess if you count tying it to a tree and ass-raping it to death as "treating it well" then yeah.
Seriously...they f***ed up the first CHAINSAW reboot so badly, there was nowhere to go but BACK in time before they f***ED everything up. And you call that treating the series well? THEN, in what was supposed to be Leatherface's origin story....they give us the R. Lee Ermey show, and as entertaining as Ermey is, I bought a ticket to see LEATHERFACE, not him. Add in one of the shittiest endings in recent memory, and I hardly think that Nispel treated CHAINSAW anything CLOSE to "well".
I have full faith that Platinum Dunes is going to treat F13 just as "well". Look for the plucky "last girl" *YAWN* to chop of Jason's arm with a dull pair of scissors in the FIRST f***ING MOVIE in the series. All while cars are inexplicably blowing up, and/or raining from the sky.

To change things, make them different from the original series/movie If we're going by that logic though, shouldn't Jason have a different mask entirely? Unless they're going to try doing this like they did Halloween and Batman: Same characters, slightly different story.

I doubt it's possible to make a bad Jason movie. I mean c'mon the plot is virtually the same every time.
Guys and girls go party in the woods/lake etc, some have sex, some don't. Random unrelated person gets killed first, Jason then kills the guys and gals who got frisky. Then he kills everyone else in some spectacular death scene. Remainder try to stop him fail and get killed. This leaves a hero type and some girl. Hero type dies trying to protect girl. Girl defeats Jason.
Next film.

They were acting like it would be drastically different, which I really didn't want, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit let down. Still looks great, just expected something a little bit different.
Is this movie set in the early '80s or present day?
