The guy that made Pumpkinhead? That sucks so much ass. I love Pumpkinhead. (not as if the rest of his credits are exactly slouches) I had no idea he was responsible for all that. Dude's behind virtually every imaginative fake thing I ever knew as a kid that wasn't a muppet. Not to make light of the situation, but you should totally do obituaries for your local newspaper anticonscience. You could save people a ton of money.

Aww man, that guy was good. Why do we keep losing so many legends (and future legends) of film over these past two years? rip

Found out about an hour ago. I am absolutely floored and heartbroken. My condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues. Stan was a once in a lifetime creative master, and we'll never see one like him. He's pretty much defined the look of horror for well over 30 years now, and now, he's gone.
This is truly the end of an era. I feel with Stan's passing that practical effects will fall to the wayside.

Stan Winston is a brand, he wasn't the only one doing stuff over there. He has a bunch of extremely talented people working underneth him, he usually just puts his quick 2 cents on things and make sure everything's alright. Stan Winston studio will still go on. Dr. James Andrews...you know the sports injury guy that the wwe uses is the same way. His name is a well known name brand in his field, he hired good people to run things and they run his practice and he just looks over things.

He's passed his knowledge to a lot of people. I just don't know if anyone's going to come along that had the same knack for creature creation that Stan had.

That depresses me badly. At one point, Savini, Winston and Harryhausen were like gods to me.

I also fear what the loss of Stan Winston will mean for movies in this day and age. I fear no one will take the art form seriously and instead poorly-done CGI will become the norm.
That said, what a legacy to leave behind. His work is virtually above the medium.
RIP

That depresses me badly. At one point, Savini, Winston and Harryhausen were like gods to me. It's really weird to think that we live in a world now where Stan is gone, and Ray is still around. I'd rather have them both around. But I'm selfish like that.

Damnit, I loved his work, and he seemed a genuinely cool guy.
I had no idea he was that sick. If it means he's not suffering anymore, I guess there's that consolation.
