I refer to this 25 worst hair metal bands and I said to myself, what the f is this? Slave to the Grind is a pretty damn good metal album, and yet this isn't the fist time I've heard of Skid Row being referred to as a hair metal band, they're like just plain old good regular metal dammit. P.s Extreme isn't a hair metal band either, that list is just messed up.

nah, Skid Row aren't Hair Metal. their just a metal band whose lead singer is too much of a headcase to be believeable.

A band that opened for Pantera in 1992 cannot be considered hair metal.
I also call shenanigans on that list.

But sadly all metal type bands that gained mainstream appeal between 1983-1991 are called hair metal regardless if they are or aren't

The first album was definitely hair metal. After that, it's debatable. And Skid Row (with Bach) is my 2nd favorite band of all time, only behind Guns N' Roses. I'm hopefully seeing Bach during his summer tour when he's opening up for Poison.
Wow. Surprised that Whitesnake is on that list. They had so many hits and David Coverdale had an amazing voice.

I will not tolerate any bad-mouthing of Stryper.

This made me laugh right off the bat, the picture for mr big is the "eat em and smile" dave roth band from 86
edit: I'm sure this guy doesn't know any warrant songs besides heaven and cherry pie, only knows whitesnake from the way-over-played "here i go again", didn't need to pass the time on the radio and tv with a wasp music video ever, and his complaint about skid row is that sebastian was on that supergroup show?

Skid Row f***in' rocks. I defy you to listen to Slave to the Grind or Subhuman Race and declare it "hair metal".
In defense of Warrant Jani Lane has this to say about being forced to write Cherry Pie, "I could shoot myself in the f***ing head for writing that song."

A worst hair metal band list with no Winger?
BULLSHIT!
For the record, I realize that Winger had/has some very talented musicians in the band, but damn that album just blew goats.

Musically, they were more in the gritty GNR vein of 80s hard rock/metal than they were in the Poison/Motley Crue vein. You know, not quite thrash like Metallica and Anthrax, but not really pop crap either.
Especially on Slave to the Grind. That's just a straight up, no gimmicks, hard rock/metal album.

I think some of the stuff on the first album is borderline pop-metal but by Slave to the Grind they were seriously kicking ass. That list sucks. Anyone that talks crap about Dokken, Skid Row, Extreme, Poison and Mr. Big instantly loses credibility with me. And Jericho would kick their asses for including Stryper on the list.

Boggling at the inclusion of a Spinal Tap picture on the list.

The fact that Sebastian Bach was too pretty for his own good is what tossed them into the Hair Metal genre. That and the fact that they pretty much followed the "hair metal" instruction guide with their self titled... release a hard rockin' song, "Youth Gone Wild", release a semi-ballad "18 And Life", release a heartfelt, lighter burning ballad "I Remember You."
Plus, they were on the cusp where they were too glossy to be considered grunge, and they weren't heavy enough to be in the same league as Slayer, Pantera, Anthrax, Biohazard, and Sepultura... so, they got the Bulletboys treatment and were tossed in the hair metal category.
I honestly think that label suits them way more than any other, but that's just me.
