The Real Reason Hardy Defeated Triple H, Norman Smiley/WWE 12/30/2007 by Ryan Clark
The reason WWE switched the outcome of the Triple H-Jeff Hardy result at the Armageddon was due to Trips preferring to get his title shot at Wrestlemania, rather than at the Royal Rumble. www.wrestlezone.com/article.php?articleid=201052927So he wasn't putting Hardy over for the sake of putting him over, or for the future of the business. He just wanted to main event Wrestlemania.

Just between you and me, I heard he tried stealing Christmas to, but it was too well guarded.

This has been posted, but people should take this with a grain of salt. How do we know the plan wasn't for Jeff Hardy to go over the whole time with Trips being on board the whole time?

That BASTARD Triple H!
How dare he think that just because he's over with the crowds, one of the biggest names in the company, a former champion and main event star that he deserves a title shot at WrestleMania? Who does he think he is?

People always screw this story up. He bought an orphanage, forced the orphans to rob a bank, and while they were gone set the orphanage on fire. When they returned, the got to see him sledgehammer kittens as a prize before he pedigreed and spinebustered the lot. Finally he left, taking the money and leaving them homeless and unconcious. And as he drove out of sight, he shouted, "I am the Game, FEAR MY MIGHT!"

I understand why smart fans dislike Triple H. Sure, I remember when he steamrolled over all the talent in WWE like Jericho, Booker T, RVD, and Kane, keeping the World Heavyweight title for a long time. I know he's married into the McMahon family and has incredible stroke with the company. The guy has not held the title that much at all since losing it to Benoit at WMXX (he put Benoit over by tapping out). I think the smart fans who lost favor with Triple H should at least give the guy credit for putting over Batista and Cena in a big way at consecutive Wrestlemanias, trying to make the stars of the future. Actually, I don't think he's won a Mania match since WM19 against Booker T. He just recently put over Jeff Hardy clean. He's been pretty unselfish. I think he's kept himself away from the title (not counting his brief reign after Cena got injured) and with Cena injured, he seems like one of the most credible superstars to have the belt. Plus, if he wins the belt or even wrestlers for it, that just sets up more opportunities for him to elevate talent.

In other news, Triple H hate has gone a little too far overboard. I just don't get it, sure he didn't put Carlito over but what has Carlito done in recent years to warrant going over HHH? Sure he won the WWE title but he lost it right back and hasn't been in the title picture since. I really don't see what he has done lately to warrant all this hate. It seems like some people go out of their way to make the guy sound alot worse than he really is.

Most of them are making fun of people who think HHH is PURE EVIL!

Well, I think that there is some credence to the idea that Trips would wan't to headline wrestlemania... but at the same time, is that really all that bad?
Come on, look at his record at the biggest show. Losses left and right. He can put on one hell of a match, brings alot of credibility to the ring, and is not afraid to lose on the largest show of the year.

I don't believe that the outcome was switched, I feel the idea was for Hardy to go over all along.
We've heard time and time again about how HHH is high on Jeff Hardy, the whole point of the match was to help push Jeff Hardy to the next level. Jeff Hardy wins with a rollup, he gets to look like a winner and HHH loses nothing really. It's exactly the way I was expecting the match to end, Jeff Hardy via rollup.
I DO believe HHH would prefer to get his title shot at mania (who wouldn't?), I don't believe that the outcome was switched because of it though...Hardy was meant to go over all along.

Exactly, the hype on wwe.com was calling the match the defining moment of Hardy's career, a crossroads, etc . it seemed like the plan was for him to go over all along. I don't doubt HHH will be in the ME of Mania, but are we supposed to believe that all of a sudden he said "Hey, wait a minute! I wanted my shot at Mania, not next month! Damnit, now we'll have to put Hardy over and give him a title shot to make that happen." This story is just a way to try and save face after all those predictions that HHH would definitely win the match.

I don't mind HHH headlining 'Mania - each time he has its always been a good or great match. More often than not in recent years he's put people over anyway.
