Ok, So I haven't been keeping up with the news lately, but has Colin Olsen signed with WWE? If not, it would seem odd to me for them to be using him frequently if not on a solid contract.

He's not signed yet. There's a big belief that WWE has an interest in signing him, because apparently he's been impressing the right people with his selling, but nothing's concrete yet.

I wonder if there are people in OVW steaming about all the TV time that Colin is getting.

You know what the big problem with Colin Delaney is?
He eats up time, ECW was a pretty good show tonight, except for two segments, The Divas...always a low spot, and Colin Delaney.
These are slow uninteresting spots, I would have much rather seen a Shelton match, or Burke match, hell even New Thorn, would have been better than...here's the new Diva, and watch Colin get his ass kicked again.

I want to see how Colin could handle a match with Nunzio.
I say, somehow, Stevie Richards wins.

I have not seen the matches, but the way Whipwreck got over wasn't that he just got beat.. he got destroyed. You felt horrible for the kid because it drew the emotion out of you that you want to see him succeed but at the same time, it made you just want to go up to him and say "YOU IDIOT! STOP BEFORE YOU GET HURT". That storyline made Mikey Whipwreck one of my favorite wrestlers of the 90's because it was a Rocky type story and I loved it.
I have yet to really watch ECW with Colin except for the first time.. but my guess is the matches aren't matches where you fear for his safety. Slowly this angle will build until he starts getting a little competitive in matches then he'll nearly pull off a couple wins.. then finally pull out some fluke win.
I really want to go back and watch the Whipwreck storyline now again. I'm mad that my parents when they moved don't know what happened to my old box of Hardcore TV VHS's.

Personally, I hope it works for him. He's a good kid, and he deserves his shot. The problem is, they keep bringing him out and making a big deal about him being around just to get beat up on, it's going to go nowhere fast. Plus, Whipwreck was tailored to a different audience in a different time. Bobby Dempsey is really the new model on how to get someone over like that.
Also, since he's now wearing bancages, I expect him to be wrestling in a full body cast soon, much like Shark Boy.

I think it's as simple as "Booing is more fun than cheering."
Has nothing to do with Delaney, Tazz, the angle, anything. They don't know him and they're booing because booing is fun.

I can see it now they can hire a white version of Al Sharpton to come in and lay claims of reverse racism! I'd laugh my ass of at that gimmick.

Fans now dont care about low card guys/jobbers. If its not Cena, HHH, Taker, HBK, Batista, etc. It's just taking up time and in the way. Seriously, I cant think of one guy below upper midcard status that is actually over/gets heat. And no, thats not all the writers fault. Carlito and Santino get heat, and Cody often gets some cheers, but yeah, most of the undercard's reactions vary week by week. Sometimes Miz and Morrison get heat, along with pops for Moore and JYW, but other times they get apathy, for example. Damn jaded fans.

As most of us know, Mikey Whipwreck spent a living getting his butt whooped, and cheered for it. People LOVED to see his ass get kicked to hell and back. However, Colin Delany, a young man with a similar, if not the exact same gimmick on ECW, is NOT getting cheered. In fact, when Tazz asked the audience to applaud his bravery for coming out tonight, he was resoundly BOOED. So is Colin Delaney the anti-Whipwreck? Is he just not pitiful enough? Why do people not like seeing him die? Lot of sadists in the world. They're just glad it ain't them gettin' the crap kicked out of them. Something like that?

I think the main thing was asking for an ovation. Crowds think it's edgy to boo that, or they just resented being patronized.
I'm more inclined to think they just thought it'd be funny to boo.

There's a few problems with how they're handling Colin. I think if they don't hype him or his match up, like with Tazz interviewing him and such, this could get a little more over with the crowd. They should just have Colin come out, get squashed in under 3 minutes, end segment. Every week Colin should do this up until the fans start cheering for him. They shouldn't just have Tazz interview Colin before every one of his matches and say, "Well, last week you got destroyed by (insert name here) etc. etc. Let's give Colin a hand everybody!" If you tell the fans to cheer, they will boo. Let them cheer for him on his own. And let him get squashed every week for months and months and months up to the point where the fans don't expect him to win And once that win finally comes (which should be over a top main-event heel), you'll get that "OH MY GOD!" moment that will go over with the fans very well.
Another problem with this is the fact that most fans of the 'E just don't seem to appreciate guys who aren't Batista, Rey Mysterio, Triple H, Jeff Hardy, and most of all, John Cena. If ECW was it's own show (meaning being taped/broadcast from a separate arena other than RAW or SmackDown!) and had it's own fan-base who come to see ECW and ECW alone, this Colin thing would probably be more successful, assuming it's excecuted correctly.
That's my two-cents.
