Could he? Yes, potentially every man in the match can win it.
Will he? No, there are better choices.
I hope they take the ECW title off him soon and give it to Elijah Burke or someone else...Punk is stale to me.

whats with you IWC people and your obsession with these small guy 180 pounders soaking wet who cant give u an interview along with to save their lives and look like your typical trailer trash guys who buys tickets to the cheap seats? NO OFFENSE.. But they look far from and away from what professional wrestlers are supposed to look like. Watch some ROH, then talk about Punk's promo skills. He's not really been given the chance in WWE. Also, the name of the game is wrestling. Punk is a wrestler, not some 'roid case.

I proposed this idea in the ECW thread after Punk beat Chavo again last night. Punk should enter the Rumble with the storyline that he could possibly have 2 world titles after Wrestlemania. It would build some drama into the Rumble if they made it seem like someone other than Batista, Taker, etc.......... could win it. I think it's so easy for everyone to dismiss it even though there is a bit of logic behind it. Last night when I posted this, CM Punk had 80% votes saying he should be in the RR match. Obviously, they wouldnt have this poll up if they didn't have any ideas at all to use him in it. They probably just want to see how people would react to it. People are just so easy to dismiss this because "ZOMG HE NOT BIG" and "YOU ARE JERKIN OFF FOR PUNK!!!1" -- the typical attitude of the people around here. I don't say this as a fanboy, but as someone trying to figure out who the hell is going to win the Rumble this year.

I don't wanna have the Rumble winner be so obvious as it has been in recent years. WWE could do a much better job of having several guys head into the Rumble looking like they could win. Having Punk enter the Rumble with a storyline would do that. I mean, having a world champion actually in the Rumble hasn't happened since Hogan in 1990, granted it's the ECW title, but still. I'm not saying Punk could or should win the Rumble, I'm just saying put him in their and make us think he has a shot to win it.

Personally, I would love it. Here's why...
- It would actually be a suprise winner, something the Royal Rumble has sorely lacked since about 1997. - CM Punk's reign as ECW has been...unforgettable, to say the least (which is not his fault). This idea of him wanting to go for the WHC too after winning the Rumble and then maybe unify both belts would give it the interest it needs - CM Punk vs. Edge at WM would be awesome, and could put Punk over as a big star.
However, with that said, WWE doesn't think like I do (which is a shame!), so it probably wont happen.

Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair (in his day) are all great examples of guys with the same physique as Punk. ...I'd like to see Batista carry an interview better than Punk's pre-WWE. im sorry, but in their primes all of those guys were far more cut/muscular than current cm punk. whether its right or wrong, larger than normal men usually become the stars in WWE (i dont believe for a second that he's 225 lbs, after all, they did say for years andre was 7'5" lol) hogan, the rock, austin, undertaker, HHH, LOD, etc. just pushing a guy doesnt always mean they will get over enough to carry the company, and really when someone is given the WWE title, thats kinda what the intent is. thats the main star, the person evryone pays to see. we've been "treated" to snitsky pushes of sorts for a year, and no one cares about him at all. cade and murdoch have been pushed, they get lttlie reaction. cm punk is definately popular, but who knows how long it will last. i hope cm punk can get to the top, and get over enough to be given a real title.(i mean jeff hardy over, not a high-pitched 8 second chant on ecw over)

Not only that, but how much longer until the ECW Title gets dissolved into the WHC anyway? This could be the way to do it.

It would be like Edge climbing down the latter to face punk. Instead of having 2 main event wrestlers steal the show and main event at WM. Edge/Orton vs punk would be like a letdown.
Even though I know Edge can carry Punk to a great match. But the promos before the match. Edge owns him. Like HHH did Cena.

Listen u can defend the little guys all u want. But the bottom line is, without that "bigger than life" look, and with vince pushing guys like Hardy, Punk, Mysterio etc, wwe is never going to bring the new viewers in and consistently do sell out business on a nightly basis even at the house shows. WWE has consistently over the years promoted big guys and that is what has sold. You cant have a card full of small underneath guys... Its just isnt going to sell. Dont use the shawn, bret, flair, excuse. Flair did sell out business but really how many wrestlers come along flair's size and can do that? They are few and far between and only come around once a generation. As for Bret and Shawn? Neither did sell out business and neither brought new viewers in like the warrior, superstar billy graham, hogan, bruno etc. Have Punk or Hardy increased ratings? I know Hardy hasnt thats for sure. The proof is in the pudding as they say. Besides the casual fan, most fans are not going to by tickets to see a guy wrestler who looks like guys could beat them up. U have to have that bigger than life star. History has shown us this. Wrestling fans are the minority opinion. Attracting that outside fanbase is the key and you arent going to do it with small man. They have their place in the midcard. I went with my dad to see a house show. He hasnt watched wrestling in years. The first thing he said, "God I cant believe how small these guys are. I could take them!" It does hurt the attraction or appeal to the outside fan.

If Punk entered, and won, hypothetically, he could challenge himself to an ECW championship match at Wrestlemania. He'd lose the belt to CM Punk. CM Punk would be happy for winning. CM Punk would be sad for losing. It would be a paradox!

i don't think he should even be in the rumble. it makes the ECW title look bad. if punk's the world champ then why would he want anything more? a champion should be 100% focused on defending their belt, unless there's something better on offer. by having a world champion cometing for a chance at another belt (and most likely failing to do so) would make the ECW title look pretty crap.
and as for if he could, i doubt it. if he won, he would get a main event wrestlemania and possibly be the first double world champ since the brand split. i don't think wwe have nearly enough faith in CM Punk to do that.

LOL@Edge carrying Punk LOL@Edge owning Punk on the mic Punk can hang with anyone in WWE, especially Edge, so carrying won't be necessary. Same goes for mic work. Title vs title, Edge vs Punk. That would be a show stealing match.
