I went to ECW.com to look for results for tonight's show and the poll is "Do you want to see CM Punk compete in the Royal Rumble match?" The two available options for the poll are "Yes. If he won, it could lead to a Champion vs. Champion Match at WrestleMania." and "No. He should only be focused on defending the gold." This got me thinking, do you think Punk could win the rumble setting up a title unification match between SD and ECW? I think it's very possible, because picking a rumble winner is hard this year (it's been so obvious the last few years), and if Edge loses the title by WM, his match against the Undertaker will be non-title, thus making it more obvious that Taker will keep his streak.
Although a Punk/Edge match would be awesome.

could he win? yes (technically anyone entered could win) will he win? no as much as I like Punk, I would have to agree here...unless he was built like Batista, I wouldnt see McMahon giving him a Royal Rumble win and a Mania match yet...

whats with you IWC people and your obsession with these small guy 180 pounders soaking wet who cant give u an interview along with to save their lives and look like your typical trailer trash guys who buys tickets to the cheap seats? NO OFFENSE.. But they look far from and away from what professional wrestlers are supposed to look like. When have small guys ever done sell out business?

I'd love to see it... but Punk is still at the very beginning of his WWE career, and in all honesty, he's nowhere near ready to headline WM. I'll honestly be suprised if the ECW Title is defended at all at WM.
Although, I'd absolutely LOVE to see a Punk/MVP match for the US Title at WM

Say this about a lot of people and you might have a point, but punk is pretty well known to be very good on the mic, just hasn't been allowed to really talk.

Alright assuming you're not joking, ill address this 1. Punk is 6 foot 1, 225 pounds, not exactly a small man 2. for the promo comment, youtube.com/watch?v=XuP8tqxeslY one of his several good ones. the guy is over with several for his promo ability alone (as well as being one hell of a wrestler). Not sure where you're going at saying he cant do an interview to save his life. also seen here --> youtube.com/watch?v=eSGHYFGSk5Yone of his more memorable WWE era promos 3. oh and small guys don't sell huh...hmm..HBK, Bret Hart, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle, and countless others would disagree with you on that one 4. and finally, who are you to judge what type of body type is a true "wrestling" body. Moronic individuals like your self help contribute to people like Dave Batista jacking the selves so full of juice that their barely mobile. This isn't body building, this is pro wrestling. I am afraid alot of people have forgotten that over the years

NO OFFENSE.. But they look far from and away from what professional wrestlers are supposed to look like. When have small guys ever done sell out business? Ironically enough, outside Hogan and arguably Undertaker, no one over 300 pounds in WWE has ever consistently drawn huge money either. Face it, size means nothing. If a wrestler is popular and over, that's good enough. Look at Jeff Hardy. They could have some idiotic archaic carny mentality and think that he doesn't look like what a wrestler is their minds is supposed to look like, but the fans are eating the guy up right now, so they'd be wrong. Being entertaining and connecting with an audience is all that matters. If people are buying tickets, watching them on TV and buying the PPVs, it shouldn't matter if the guy is Rey-sized or Batista-sized. Wrestling is a business. You give the fans what they want, not what you think they should want. Now, if you had said that Punk shouldn't be pushed to the moon because he gets a midcard reaction at best, you'd at least have somewhat of a point. Size means nothing if you're entertaining.

If he has a title, I dont think he ought to have any business in the match to begin with.
Regardless, I thought it was too soon to throw him the ECW title to start with, even now it would be to me. It's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too soon to give him the main event at Mania spot.
I mean, to me it is too soon. Maybe to the WWE its about time within the year or so, but if it was me he still hasnt been around long enough.

build him up slowly... he's still young and has a ton of time. no need to hotshot him to the main event... he may eventually become it but take it slow so it finally means something when he makes it.

HHH tears both his quads while Stephanie is "trying to play the game" HBK loses his smile... again. Taker takes time off. Batista contracts herpes. Jericho is detained in Canadia. JBL takes a wrong turn in South Jersey and is never seen or heard from again. Kennedy is dared to laugh in the face of Funaki. TNA becomes TNRey. Jeff Hardy finds religion and becomes a Rainbow Haired GOD Warrior. ...then sure, I could see Punk winning.

"There's no way CM Punk will win the Royal Rumble. Unless, of course, my 29 other participants fall victim to 29 separate misfortunes and are unable to wrestle that night. But that will never happen. Three misfortunes, that's possible. Seven misfortunates, there's an outside chance. But 29 misfortunes? I'd like to see that!"
