When the WWE ran Madison Square Garden last year, I wrote a scathing review of how un-smark like the crowd was. Once known for their defiance and moxie, New York City WWE fans have devolved into a mark-like crowd no different than the ones you see in Greensboro or Ft. Worth. With the Royal Rumble being held on Sunday, how smarky (if at all) do you see the crowd getting?
Smart (no pun intended) money says the crowd breaks about 90/10 in favor of the marks.

I think it really depends on the quality of the PPV. If it's good to great, the MSG will happily mark. If it gets boring, the smarks will get smarky smark on their smarking smarks.

Judging by the responses of smarks here it would seem a lot of them arent really interested in the product anymore. Its possible theres been a shift in the crowd.

With Cena out of the picture, there isn't much for the "smarks" to jeer.
Most Smarks hate Orton, but hate Hardy as well, so I guess they's boo both of them.
Most Smarks don't think Mysterio can be a credible champ, so they'll boo him as well.
Other than that, it should be business as usual throught the night.
Most of the people the smarks would boo, will get cheers from the kids and women, and we all know screeches from women and little kids will drown out boos any day of the week.

Smarks shouldn't be allowed near to the arenas IMO.
If all you're gonna do is boo for the wrong reasons, and trying to get yourself over in the process, and write a rabid review of the show giving every match a 1/2* rating because WWE sucks, well... maybe it's time to spend your money on something else.
Why attending a Metallica gig if you think Cliff was better, the new albums suck, James' haircut is hideous and the band doesn't look or sound like 20 years ago?

It's the Royal Rumble.
One of the real biggies.
I suspect MSG will be loud and marky/smarky when called for.

The one thing needed for Smark New York WWE crowds = Heel Kurt Angle. No smark crowd can hate Kurt Angle, but when he's heel, even more so. It may not be New York, but does anyone remember Kurt getting cheered on like crazy during the Orton/Angle/Mysterio WM22 Triple Threat, despite being the super-heel?

Not likely, if they were running MSG all the time, then maybe, but they barely come there anymore, it's like once or twice a year. Much like with the rabid old school ECW fans in Philly/NYC, they crapped all over anything that wasn't old ECW for the most part, and so Vince decides not to run those venues anymore.

Loved the chants at those shows, especially when Test debuted, you could hear: "*clap clap clap clap" You take steroids!" ;D

Never understood the desire to go to a wrestling show, with the express intention of being "smart" booing for the sake of it.
I go to shows of all sizes, cheering for who I like, booing for who I don`t, but deliberately going against the wrestlers because its a WWE Gimmick is just daft in my eyes.
Its WWE, there is going to be some stuff smart fans don`t like, the kids and marks do though and they have just as much right to be there and cheer.

Im telling you...I have a strong feeling it will be smarky for two big matches in particular...
Edge will get cheered and Mysterio will get booed
and
JBL will get the cheers over Jericho
I also suspect a very positive response for Santino

I mean he might get a cheer if he's lucky, but I think he'll get booed as he'll probably just rag on the NY fans if he's given a chance to speak.

As much as I hate smark crowds (especially given I'm from NYC), if it's between that and a crowd that sits on its hands, then I'll take the smark crowds any day.

For one thing, Jericho was born in New York State.

Why don't smarks boo the heels they like? Cheering them just causes them to be de-pushed or turned face.
If everybody cheered the faces they liked, booed their favourite heels and didn’t react at all to the people they hated things would work so much better than just deliberately going against the grain.

For one thing, Jericho was born in New York State. Because the Jericho return hasn't exactly been great and he is losing momentum. He is even starting to get booed by "non smark crowds". Plus he is being given the same John Cena type of humor in his promos. Plus JBL is very pro New York in every one of his promos.
