Come this summer, it'll be 10 years since "The Rated R Superstar" stepped foot in a WWE(then WWF) ring. When he debuted, he was a mysterious goth who were a trench coat and didn't say anything. This man has come along way. He went through many different faces through his tenure, from a Goth with Brood Members Christian and Gangrel to a comedy duo with Christian, then ventured out on his own as The Rated R Superstar who would do anything to get to the top. So for those who watched wrestling back then, what were your thoughts on him? I liked him during that timeframe. I thought it was a cool gimmick. As far as his future was concerned, I never thought that far ahead(and nor shall I or any of us do it now), I pretty much went with the flow and enjoyed it for what he was worth.

True Story:
I didn't like Edge when he debuted because he injured Jose Estrada (No relation) and I was a big "Los Boricuas" fan.

His debut seemed really promising but was spoiled when he was revealed to be a goofy babyface.
I'm one of the 12 people on planet Earth who wasn't a huge mark for E&C so I'm a little lukewarm to that run.
Was not crazy about his beat-the-odds babyface run on the Blue show (around the time he was feuding with Eddy and tagging with Mysterio).
Ruining Matt's marriage was the best thing that ever happened to this guy's career. He's one of the top men in the company now because of it, but the fact that he's so injury prone is probably holding him back.

I am still shocked that the man is a main eventer and a World champ and they have no problem calling him "Edge".
Hell, they thought Johnny Nitro was too goofy sounding...at least he had a full name that sounded like you're referring to a person.

Edge as the goofy nerd he was with Christian was how comedy should be booked. TNA should study them and Angle doing their schtick could go along way in helping them book comedy properly.
And, just for the record, I never expected Edge to become as big as he has. He deserves everything he has gotten as he busted his ass, and evolved his character over the past 10 years to get to this point.

Seeing him run through the crowds always got me hooked when he first began. E & C rocked, of course. Stealing Lita wasn't exactly one of my favorite moments, but it did rocket him into the main event scene, so good for him I suppose.

Of all the TLC 6 (The Hardys, Dudleys and E and C) I saw him as the one who'd lift a world title first. Most of my casual fan friends thought Jeff Hardy a dead cert and my more smart fan friends thought Christian or Matt Hardy more likely, but I thought Edge had more the complete package.

I thought he was cool when I saw him in the crowds. A week or two later when I attended my first show, a taped Raw, he was sitting a few rows up from my friends and I. It was pretty sweet and only made me more interested in him.

Urban Vampire. I think he was supposed to be a white version of "Blade", which was big before the Brood debuted. I kinda liked it and liked Edge and Christian better than Gangrel who was way too over-the-top with his goofy teeth and all the stuff. However, I never thought that they would be anywhere near World Title status, maybe IC but never the very top.

I was a fan of Edge before it was cool to be so. I don't think he was so much a "goth" when he debuted (which was a really cool gimmick I thought), it was when he joined the brood for no reason that he became a "goth". I was fearfull that WWE was going to push Gangrel over Edge. ( I wonder what that storyline was originally about anyway?)

when he debuted, i honestly felt he was some sort of 'blade' vampire character (i guess i was right at first). coming through the crowd i didnt like, that was sandmans thing. doing a spear as a major part of his offense at a time goldberg was making it a popular move, didnt like that. but i started to like the character when the brood came about, and was annoyed when that ended so fast.

I liked it. My first Raw was back in July of 1998. And I saw Edge hanging out in the crowd. I walked right by him put my hand out and got nothing. So I just tapped him on the arm and left. If I knew what I knew now I would have spoken to him, or tried. He was so into the gimmick and just acted like I wasnt there. I was 13. Damn you edge. You ruined my first Raw! Hey least I got sorta lost in the crowd and this ticket guy wouldnt let me back in my seat. he walked me a little bit backstage and I saw the godfather. he looked huge, I tapped in on the back. It was cool. So yeah back to edge right? Damn you Edge! I love the fact after all these years he still uses the, 'You think you know me' I will be pissed if he changes that.

I wondered what Gangrel's lame ass was doing with a stable. Then I soon realized his goons were so much better then he was. Then the WWE realized the same thing.

I was fan from day one. Because Sting was (and always will be) my favorite wrestler. Sting hung around in the crowds, Sometimes came thru the crowd to the ring. Never spoke. Long black jacket.
Edge, Comes to he ring thru the crowd. Long black jacket. Never spoke. So Edge was my "WWE's Sting".
