If it's true, about goddamn time they left that sinking channel. Who the hell still watches CW for anything but SmackDown! anyway? one tree hill and gossip girl are both good shows well with wwe and universal being really close a move to nbc right after friday night lights would work

I'm guessing Smackdown will take over ECW's time slot until that runs out or WWE gets another network to say yes.
I knew it was going to happen sooner or later but man it shocked me when I first heard it.

Whoa! That sucks. If it moves to cable, I will not be able to watch any wrestling program. Did I mention that sucks? I normally catch the cable ones at my dads...This sucks

Article on the split from Variety.com I love that Variety is pointing out the stupidity of CW for wanting to get rid of Smackdown.

Would NBC even want to put SD on? The SNME specials (though i liked them) were pretty much ratings flops after all. Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. I wouldn't hold my breath for NBC to pick up Smackdown. The most likely scenarios are: 1) USA picks up Smackdown to air on Friday or Saturday Nights. 2) SCI-FI picks up Smackdown to air in the current ECW slot (9-11 on Tuesdays). ECW therefore is canceled or moved to an "Internet only" show. 3) Smackdown is canceled altogether, the brand split is ended and the ECW time slot becomes a "Sunday Night Heat" type show for promos from main eventers, tag team matches and squashes for stars-in-the-making.

Without turning this into a "brand split debate" thread, I'll just say option 3 looks pretty good to me

If they move it back yo Thursday I'd start watching again. Plus we'd have the Thursday Night War with TNA. More like Thursday Night TNA gets its butt handed to it. I like the move to USA best.

Apparently there's one Wayans brother left who doesn't have his own show, so they had to make room.

USA picking up SD! makes some sense, but the problem is...............at least I think....
Back in 2006 when ECW was revived, there was a report going around that the reason why it had its original 10 week contract with the Sci-Fi Network was that USA was either NOT interested in ECW, or wasn't interested in dumping money into an uncertain investment. The Sci-Fi deal* was a cheap bump for that network, but prove to USA that it could work.
Whatever that report was true or not, who knows...who cares....but it makes me wonder if USA is really interested in having TWO weekly full prime-time slots filled with wrestling.
But hey, what do I know?
*=Which makes no sense technically, since both are owned by NBC/Universal, but whatever.

None of the above. They should just get rid of Smackdown and move them all to ECW. Then the WWE will only have two big shows. RAW and ECW.

Yea Friday is Fox's Dead night. And Fox does love to Cross promote....Dr House.. That's actually not a half bad idea for comedy. Just imagining House trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with Vince makes me chuckle. But of course, they couldn't keep kayfabe alive without someone beating him into a coma with his own cane inside the first 15 minutes. I'd like to see Umaga hit the Samoan spike on House and finally shut him the hell up. None of the above. They should just get rid of Smackdown and move them all to ECW. Then the WWE will only have two big shows. RAW and ECW.Or you could rename ECW Smackdown. Smackdown has more of a history than ECW, and ECW has been going down the tubes for a while anyway.

I hope this finally ends the roster split as wrestling has honestly sucked since they did this BS. Or at the very least have ECW vs. WWE Raw since ECW has name identity as does WWE obviously and you could do tension and feuds much better than when it was just Raw vs. Smackdown.

It should go to a local station like My Network Tv or the other local networks that doesn't have regular programming. That way preemptions won't happen as much.
