"A really fun match with great nearfalls down the stretch and action throughout. It did seem a little odd for Hardy to pop right back up from the leg lock, but it’s hard to knock this match. A great television main event. By the way, I take back what I said earlier about the crowd being burned out. They were actually very vocal given the circumstances. They were unusually quiet during the Vince vs. Hornswoggle match and were pretty low key in some of the other slow segments, but they were loud whenever WWE game them something to cheer about, particularly during the hot main event. " - Jason Powell, ProWrestling.Net
"In my live report, I gave this ***1/2 stars, as it was tough getting into the action four hours into the taping. But watching it back a second time fresh on TV, it was definitely four-stars-plus. Ross and Lawler's call added a ton to the match on TV that wasn't available live. Great athleticism. Great finish. Two superior athletes have an outstanding TV main event match. Did it sell No Way Out? Well, it wasn't on the level of Hardy-Orton selling the Rumble, but this was still a good final match before the PPV where Ross and Lawler could hit the highpoints on what's coming up on Sunday. (****1/4)^" - James Caldwell, PWTorch.com

After one watch I said ***3/4 and a definite WWE match of the year contender. Someone would seriously have to do some major nit-picking to start finding faults in this one.
After the Rumble I'm ecstatic Hardy is still getting pushed strong. Hell he's beaten DX clean in the middle over the past 2 months. Someone say that they saw that coming last August when he "disappeared" for a month.

I'd have to watch it again, but I'd be hard pressed to go over 3 1/2. Its really tough for a TV match to top 4.

Good for him, and good on WWE for backing what they see as a future top-belt champion. Anyway, HBK/Hardy had some good moments I just dug....from Hardy's rail-jump reversed by Michaels into a powerslam....to the experienced HBK not falling for Hardy's routine turnbuckle jump......to HBK pulling his Flair-esque overselling turnbuckle flip, and Hardy promptly NAILING him during it. Did anyone else notice Hardy's lip-ring may have been torn just a tad during the match? Yeech...

It was a good TV match, it tells me they are doing their best to try to keep Hardy strong without having him win at the PPV. It's a tradeoff, "ok we'll give him a big win over HBK to offset him not winning the mainevent spot"

I enjoyed the match. I was a little surprised that HBK lost, but it was a welcome change from the typical heel run in ending.

I thought it was a good match, but it definitely wasn't ****1/4 or whatever it was given. ***1/2, around that mark, but it was still a really good TV main event.
James Caldwell is the same guy who gave Hardy vs. Orton -*** b/c his boy didn't win.

I'm not one to rate with little snowflakes, but I definitely enjoyed the hell out of the match. Hardy did a bang up job on offense and selling, less spotty than he had been and you could tell he and HBK were just having fun out there putting on more or less an old school match. They didn't try to re-invent the wheel or anything and you could tell HBK was happy to be out there putting on a good match and Jeff over as well.
Overall a bang up job and I really thought Hardy would win given all the offense he got in early on. For a good part of the early on it seemed like he was just one-upping HBK and just dishing back out whatever he was taking. It was also fun to see HBK work a more technical less flashy match. He knew he didn't have to try to go all out to get a good match out of his opponent and didn't really try to outshine him, he just kept it at a fairly equal pace over the course of the fight.

I find it weird that if they're just going to have him lose at NWO, they'd book this match on top. To me, watching tonight, if I was a casual fan, the message we're being sent is that Hardy is the sentimental favorite to win the chamber next Sunday. I know HHH was unavailable for the taping due to family emergency, but he came off to me as a real afterthought tonight. I forgot he was even in the match. And he'll be possibly winning the Chamber next Sunday? Come on. It just seemed a little odd to book things in the order they were placed in (Cena could have easily closed out with Henry). I'm starting to really think that they might actually swerve us and have Hardy win after all, because a HHH win just makes no sense.

Great tv match and I'm happy that Hardy is not only being pushed, but doing all his talking in the ring, taking the ball and running with it.

Again I REALLY hate this Jeff Hardy god push Um...too bad? It seems to not be losing any steam whatsoever, and most people seem to appreciate it...include me among them. I've been wanting to see this push for years and years now. You're well within your rights to not like it...I just don't see what that comment contributed to the conversation whatsoever.

Fan Reactions posted at PWTorch:
"Then we got to the main event in every sense of the term. This match would not have looked out of place on a WrestleMania card. Fantastic effort by both men in the match. Hardy's push isn't as dead as I thought it was after the Rumble now with clean wins over Triple H and Shawn Michaels within two months. Easily a four-star match; some points taken off for Hardy not selling his legs when he climbed the ropes to hit the Swanton, but that's only a minor complaint to what should make the "Match of the Year" finals." - Brett Sullivan of Sydney, Australia.
"Best Match: Main Event. They have been pushing Hardy non-stop and although a lot of fans feel it will be Triple H vs. Cena at Mania, I will give a lot of credit to WWE if Hardy does win on Sunday. " - Shane McKinley of Danville, Calif.

I liked the match other than a few problems I noticed:
Hardy seemed a little sloppy. It really stood out with him wrestling a guy like Shawn. It's like he's a character in a video game that has ragdoll physics. However, it seems that it's on purpose, and the moves are still being pulled off safely so it's not too bad.
Hardy's no-selling of the leg at the end was ok. The problem was that the entire submission move was out of place. There was no leg work to build to the submission, and 10 seconds of HBK's new submission move isn't enough to cause damage to your leg sadly. It just all looked awkward to me.
Overall it was a good match, especially for a first time showing. The match would've been better 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago, but they still put on an awesome tv match. Hopefully this will eventually lead to a Hardy vs. HBK ladder match down the road. I give it ***3/4
