By "mark" I mean, a fan who has no wrestling knowledge other than what he/she has seen on TV.
My dad has a friend that he works with, and the guy is a HUGE wrestling fan. He's gotta be up in his 40's, and has been watching wrestling forever it seems. The guy even wants to run his own promotion soon. The problem? He thinks that it's all real. One day we were discussing wrestling, and the subject of ECW came up.
I said, "Yea, I don't like this new ECW too much, I miss the original back when Heyman was running it." His response?
"You know who's running ECW now right?"
of course I said, "Yea, Vince."
"NO!" "ECW is actually owned by Ric Flair".
WHAT?
It really just...like...astonished me. So I had to think really hard about what would make him think such a thing. The only thing I can figure is that he was thinking of the angle where Flair bought half of the WWE, and doesn't remember that he lost it all to Vince. But still....wtf?!

I didn't know there was still people around that thought wrestling was a real fight.
As a kid I remember telling my parents that Hacksaw Jim Duggan got internal bleeding from a Yokozuna bonzai drop.

None of my friends watch wrestling any more, so I have to go back to my high school days, when wrestling was cool and I had several friends who watched it.
After Kane debuted, I remember several people thought Kane was Sid with his hair dyed black. In fairness, it wasn't that dumb of them to think that since they had similar builds and hair and because Sid had not been seen on TV for awhile.
Also, someone told me that Chyna was Sergeant Slaughter's daughter.

Late 2003 or early 2004... Mark: "You hear Sting's gonna be on RAW tonight?" Me: "Oh yeah?" Mark: "Yeah, he's gonna run in the main event and cost HHH the title. Me: "Oh... ok." *Next day at school.* Me: *trying to hold back laughter* "So... what happened to Sting?" Mark: "Oh he missed his flight, but he's gonna show up on Smackdown to make up for it. He's gonna cost Brock Lesnar the title." Me:

Is Sgt Slaughter really an Iraqi sympathizer now? He must be since he has a real Iraqi general as a manager.

WCW was real and WWF was fake. No, no you got it all wrong. Both WCW and WWF are fake. Now, ECW that stuff's real. You know because one time I saw a guy who got hit in the head so hard that he needed stitches. And then the next week when I watched he still had stitches. Or at least that's what some idiot tried to convince me of in the late 1990s/early 2000s.

You know that guy in TNA? Abyss? He was actually the original Kane but when they asked him to take off the mask, he quit and they found the guy who is Kane now.
That explains why Kane was a foot shorter during his run with the mask!

Umaga is related to TNA's Juinor Fatu and Black Reign.
He was an older dude at a house show, so I let him go on and on. That was the most glaring but alot of it was stuff like that. I didn't have the heart to tell him otherwise about his "facts".

"Hogan's legdrop is so devastating because he's a 300 lb man and coming off the speed of the ropes causes more damage." "People tap out to the STFU so soon because Cena is SO tough, he's able to apply mosre pressure" Actually, this isn't so far off...

A few times I've corrected marks on things like Kane and Taker not being brothers. When I see their face drop, I kinda feel guilty. It's like telling a kid Santa isn't real without really thinking about what you're saying until it's too late.

There was two ultimate warriors and one died of a steroid overdose or something was the last thing someone told to me. I heard that same story but in this version he had massively high blood pressure because of his arm tassles and had a heart attack. Also, I was told by someone that Sid's leg breaking was faked.

Just a side note... I would give my right ass cheek for someone to explain how the HELL that could be fake. I mean seriously, even the dumbest person I know doesn't think that Sid's leg breaking was fake. I mean seriously, someone told you that?!
