prowrestling.net is reporting that Ric Flair was initially offered the Main Event spot at WM, but turned it down, citing that "the title belts are the most important thing." This idea was pitched to him by a creative team member, who envisioned the final image of WM to be a spotlight placed on Flair's boots and robe in the middle of the ring.

That's was a great move IMO. Even though he could of made it his night he put the business before himself.

I still think it should have been the main event. It obviously was the highlight of the evening.
That was classy of Flair, though, and shows why he is the greatest of all time.

He definetly made the right choice, but the image of the boots and robe as the final thing you saw would have been amazing as a visual.

So, what would he have done? Just take off his boots and walk backstage barefoot?
I like the way he went out personally.

So, what would he have done? Just take off his boots and walk backstage barefoot? I like the way he went out personally. Obviously, a different pair of boots and robe would suffice.

although it still should of gone on last IMO (It took a while for the crowd to get into the main event/Cole and Coach should never close out WM) That is still a testament to the greatness of Flair and the passion he has for this buisness.

He should have went ahead and agreed because while the rest of the show was good it was like after Hogan/Rock WM 18, nothing after the match between Flair/HBK compared.

Classy by Ric, what a weekend for the man, an amazing speech at the HOF followed by an amazing match with Shawn.I liked how his last moments were a simple hug and kiss with his family and a long and deserved applause from the crowd as he simply walked to the back for the last time. A real legend in the buisness.

(Cole and Coach should never be at WM) Fixed. And I'd still like to have seen someone like Arn, Steamboat, and/or Race come out to embrace him either in the ring or on the stage. Him simply walking to the back alone without much of a sendoff seemed kinda..........meh... He deserved better.

Extremely classy move by Flair. This is why I love the class acts in wrestling. I know Hogan wouldn't have done that.

a classy move by Flair, but honestly, yeah, that match WAS the main event of the night no matter what.
Ric Flair retiring > current WWE titles (that is, if this really was Flair's last match)

I would have loved to seen it main event, as this will always be THE WM24 moment for me, but i truly admire his professionalism and love for the business that he has always shown...especially with that comment.

This idea was pitched to him by a creative team member, who envisioned the final image of WM to be a spotlight placed on Flair's boots and robe in the middle of the ring. ......let's hope when the Undertaker retires, this creative team member uses this same idea.....with Taker vanishing amidst a darkened arena, and only an urn remaining.

Him simply walking to the back alone without much of a sendoff seemed kinda..........meh... He deserved better. I thought it was perfect. If the Horseman or anyone (or even if HBK stayed in the ring) were there it would take some attention away from Flair.
