......let's hope when the Undertaker retires, this creative team member uses this same idea.....with Taker vanishing amidst a darkened arena, and only an urn remaining. ..........which would cause me to mark like a little Japanese schoolgirl.

Fixed. And I'd still like to have seen someone like Arn, Steamboat, and/or Race come out to embrace him either in the ring or on the stage. Him simply walking to the back alone without much of a sendoff seemed kinda..........meh... He deserved better. I thought it was perfect. If the Horseman or anyone (or even if HBK stayed in the ring) were there it would take some attention away from Flair. To each their own, I guess. File this under "agree to disagree". I see the point, but if I were in the position that Flair is, I would want as many of the people who helped to shape my career as possible to share the moment with me. And in this case, that would include HBK. But that's just my opinion.

Flair is above the business.

I cried last night for Flair, so I know I'll cry for that especially if Taker's final match is just as emotional. Cool idea though.

That's quite cool. I woulda liked to have seen him main event, but I understand why they didn't, and respect that.

A classy move, but this match was more important (not to mention memorable) than any current title match to me, so I would have had no problem with it closing the show.

Agreed with the general sentiment. Classy move, and one I'm not sure I could make if I somehow ended up in that spot.

I would have loved Flair/HBK to be the main event, but it's typical Flair. Putting the business before himself. Many others could learn from his example. It's just another reason why Ric Flair is the greatest of all time.

Having Flair go out with no music and no other wrestlers there made it HIS moment. Best way to do it IMO.

The only thing I found crappy was that it had to precede that Bunnymania shit.

What I find hard to believe is that people have compared Flair to Hogan. Hogan's ego has it's own gravitational pull for crying out loud while Flair is just... a guy doing what he loved.

I'm wondering if this was Flair's way of saying "F You" to Vince & Co for not putting HIS championship match as the closer on WM 8.
But...but probably not.

Flair IMO should have been arrogant and take that main event spot. His last match, thats like saying you got something you absolutely hated as your final meal on death row.

I haven't been following wrestling for a while now. Lost interest in it lately.
But I feel that they've been trying to get rid of Flair for some time now. I'm surprised that he's still there.

prowrestling.net is reporting that Ric Flair was initially offered the Main Event spot at WM, but turned it down, citing that "the title belts are the most important thing." This idea was pitched to him by a creative team member, who envisioned the final image of WM to be a spotlight placed on Flair's boots and robe in the middle of the ring. To bad WWE's creative team doesn't think the same thing about those title belts.

He should have went ahead and agreed because while the rest of the show was good it was like after Hogan/Rock WM 18, nothing after the match between Flair/HBK compared. I agree completely. Hogan/Rock was the second most exhausting match, emotionally, that I have ever seen, after last night's match between HBK and Flair. Keep in mind, this is someone who saw Hogan/Rock live and someone who saw Flair/Michaels on pay-per-view. While I know Flair respects a championship, this should have been the final match. This was THE MOST emotional match I have ever seen, live or on ppv, and that includes the aforementioned WM X-8. Nothing Hogan could do could compare to Flair.
