bulldog. when he died i was at uni and was pretty annoyed. and everyone... i mean everyone in my halls knew who he was, even the ones who took the piss out of me for liking wrestling. even the ones who only ever saw wrestling once in their lives knew who the bulldog was.

I don't know who England's favorite son is, but Bulldog was one of my favorite wrestlers when I was young.

Davey Boy would be more popular Manchester, which is the hometown of Davey has a bigger wrestling scene than Liverpool, hometown of Regal. (that's how i look at it)

(that's how i look at it) Well it's actually BLACKpool not liverpool that is Regal's hometown. I'm just glad that the two biggest British wrestling stars are Northerners

Big Daddy for the win!
Bulldog is more well known outside of wrestling, but Regal is probably more respected inside of wrestling..... so it comes down to Smarks vs Marks. As most debates in here seem to!

Oh I like you, you can come again Good evening grapple fans if you've just joined us. Young David Smith has taken an awful beating at the hands of Giant Haystacks. If only he can get to the corner to tag in his partner Big Daddy. Later tonight we have Blackpool's own Steve Regal, going one on one with the Belfast Bruiser Dave 'Fit' Finlay. Then stick around for the main attraction of the evening, Mick McManus against Jackie 'Mr TV' Pallo. The crowds have been waiting for this one ;D

Molotov turns heel by shattering your illusions: -There is no Santa Claus. -You have no chance with (insert Diva/actress/pornstar here) -Davey Boy was actually Canadian. Davey was originally from Masnchester but his family are from Canada. Even so i would support Regal, that guys bee n on our screens since the 70s!

Davey Boy was over enough in England to main event Summerslam in an Intercontential Title match.
I cannot see Regal main eventing a worldwide PPV. Maybe one of those UK-only PPVs but not a Worldwide PPV.

Davey Boy. He was the British equivalent to any wrestler who ever wrapped himself in the American flag for cheap pops. On the contrary my friend. I think he would have some legit WWF Legend heat, and even though he admittedly had a gimmick like you described- I think they accepted him and it was more real than that. In America you can wrap the flag around you but 75% of the roster is American, too. The British Bulldog was one of the more successful British wrestlers in terms of specifically the WWF/E. Although Regal has been so open about his story and it's an amazing one. It's such a shame this could never happen. All starting with WCW's Ultimate Warrior trap door. Wow.
