who says it has to? like someone said earlier this week, Wrestling (at least WWe wrestling) should be a 3 ring circus where you have somethng you're into. Some people say Women will never be taken seriously, but others would also say serious "wrestling" (a la ROH) will never be taken seriously, and some people swear Sports Entertainment is ruining the business, but hey as long as we all get something we want, for free on a weekly (depending on how many shows you watch a week) basis, what's the big deal? I actually have 0 issue with what you're saying there should be an absolute mix of everything. I think the basic point is though, a very seriously booked womens division is not going to draw any better than one booked around pudding matches. I think you can make money with a certain female or 2 but in regards to the entire division, I don't think that'll ever happen in North America. O yeah most definitely. I made the argument that it's hard to say that TNA's women's division is proving something considering it's the highest rated segment of a low rated show. Especially now that reports are saying that the demographic is old men, and who's to say they're watching for the intriguing storylines or the hotness of some of the knockouts.

Especially now that reports are saying that the demographic is old men Not to get to far off topic, but I read that report too and think it was B.S. I refuse to believe that the biggest viewing demographic of ANY wrestling broadcast is middle aged guys. It sounds to me like something that was made up as another shot at TNA. I could be wrong obviously, but I just don't buy it whatsoever. As for the direction this thread has taken from the start up to now, it stated out that some were saying that women's matches can not be entertaining to anyone due to the fact that they involved women. Now the sentiment is that women's matches will never be able to be a top draw for a mainstream promotion. And the latter, I actually do agree with. I am a huge Shimmer fan -- I own all 16 of their DVD's. But Shimmer will never ever be accepted as a mainstream promotion, and it was not intended to ever be one. It exists solely for the enjoyment of the niche audience who likes it, which is relatively small. I can live with that -- I don't take offense to the fact that I like something that most people don't.

The crowd was actually INTO the match, and the pop that Melina got when she charged Beth was HUGE.
I KNOW that Women in the WWE aren't allowed to blade.....but dammit, someone needs to bleed in the Beth/Melina feud. The crowd was INTO these women....and I think this match would call for blood.
At any rate...the tiara Beth wears could finally have a purpose (covering a scar).

Actually I think that old men thing may be true, when you're drawing a 1 your highest demo could be anything. it's not that big of a sampling of viewers to begin with. Now if they were doing a 3 and it said that then I'd question it.

Why does the demographic matter? If people are tuning in, that's that.

Why does the demographic matter? If people are tuning in, that's that. Well it implies that the Knockout segments do higher ratings because of perverted old men...I guess that could be true in a way because the Awesome Kong Knockout matches usually lose viewers.

That's lame. OMG THOSE PEOPLE ARE MIDDLE AGED, THAT MEANS THEY ARE PERVS! Whatever. That applies to any age group; if there are good looking women, then (most) men will want to look at them.

Maybe a cage match would work well as those have traditionally been feud highpoints
