We now have two WWEECW wrestlers holding the major gold on the flagship show.
Kinda screws the naysays who just whine because its not like the original ECW.
So, who do we see being the next Punk and Kofi?
My moneys on Bourne and Burke

Matt Hardy and John Morrison would be my guesses.

Morrison and Burke.
And yes, it does prove the worth of ECW. People really need to do look at the bigger picture of what can be acheived with things instead of writing them off so quickly.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Elijah Burke is that great? I mean, he tons better then Snitsky, but I don't particularly care for him.

Well, I had hoped my favourite Diva would be in that category, but she didn't get moved to Raw to contend for the Women's Title (As I understand it, they didn't want to move any divas at first) and she'll probably get passed up for the Divas Championship

Elijah Burke suffered the same fate as the rest of the New Breed: Bad Booking. The problem was that those two factions had no actual reason to exist other than the sake of a faction war. And, it wasn't a good faction war anyway. If this "Black Pope" gimmick can be a springboard, then Burke just may get the push he deserves.

It makes sense that building up guys on a lesser show before promoting them to the big leagues will be good for the stars. If they go from FCW straight to Raw/Smackdown they can get lost in the shuffle and not get the chance to show what they are made of. By having ECW as a go between they get the chance to show the world what they can do on a much bigger stage than developmental, without having to be thrown into the big mix straight off.

Er, I always whined because it wasn't the original ECW but PRETENDED to be. If it was called anything other than 'ECW' I'd be entirely in favour. But the brand is in no way extreme.

Granted prior to ECW he was Johnny Nitro, so I suppose one could use the gimmick change to back up their view.

The timeline as best I can recall it:
John Morrison started on Raw as Johnny Nitro the assistant of Eric Bischoff.
Then he went to Smackdown when MNM formed.
Then when Mercury was released, he went back to Raw with Melina.
Then he went to ECW and became John Morrison.

Though you forgot to mention he was referred to as Johnny Blaze and Johnny Spade.

ECW is a live TV show, where guys develop in front of the WWE audience and gradually show up on SD and RAW, until they are called up for permanent spots.
Whether it's re-inventing themselves, re-juvenating their careers, or starting their rise.
CM Punk has had as fast a build as anybody WWE has wanted to push as the face of the company.
Seriously he won the World Title quicker than John Cena and Batista.

5/8 titles are being held by either current ECW superstars or by ECW alumni so ya it works. Plus at NOC we had ECW vs. ECW for the WWE Tag Team Champions, ECW vs. ECW for the United States Championship, ECW vs. Raw vs. SD for the ECW title in which ECW won, and a ECW guy won the IC title all in one night!

Wasn't Morrison on Raw first then demoted to ECW last year? He was...but he still represents what ECW is about. He was 'built up' on ECW after being a jobber on Raw, so he could then return reinvented as a star. Morrison still shows the worth of ECW.

I still see him as a jobber as I couldn't see him vying for the World title on Raw or SD no matter how many WWe.com segments he does with Miz.
