Mr Burns would be the logical choice. Definitly not enough Burns in the film. But, it wouldn't matter what insane plot Burnsy has this time; It'd still just feel like another episode of the show, because Burns is nearly always the villain on the show. I still say Ralph should've been the bad guy. Just imagine that.

It was a lot better than the last several seasons, but still nowhere near seasons 3-8 (The Golden Age). I liked it a lot, but probably only because I was used to the more recent trash. why do people always seem to exclude the first season or so when they talk about how good the simpsons use to be? not always but I see this alot. nevermind the crappy animation, it was the setup and had good sories. Yeah, season 1 was my favorite because Homer wasn't a buffon. He was just an unlucky guy who wanted what was best for his family. Of course, just because he wasn't a clown doesn't mean he was smart! He made plenty of stupid choices, but we were sympathetic because at heart he wanted the right thing. Every season he got dumber and luckier, until I stopped watching. Homer's not symathetic anymore, he's had a more fruitful life than any real person could hope: Astronaut, movie star, billionare, grammy-winner, and friends with more rock stars, actors and Presidents than Kevin Bacon. The movie returned Homer to that sympathetic place quite well. He was still over the top stupid and lazy, but he also eventually saw he was wrong and fought hard to make the right moves and sacrafices for his family. So he was more like a season 7 Homer. I liked it.

If you don't like it, then don't watch it. It's that simple. Like I said, they're never going to be as good as they were 20 years or so ago, and lets face it, they don't give a smurf about the people that get on the internet and whine about it. As far as I'm concerned, if you can find something positive in any of the last 10 seasons of episodes they've put out, then why the smurf would you still watching? The thing that irritates me is the fact that people who are supposedly fans of the show heap nothing - NOTHING - but negativity on it, when it seems perfectly clear to me that all they're trying to do is put out a half hour a week that's entertaining, and if you're expecting them to be pumping out season 3 or 4 caliber stuff 15 years later, I'm sorry but you're just kidding yourself. And that, to me, is being more preachy, smug and unappreciative than anything they're putting out. To put it another way, I feel about all these negative Simpsons 'fans' in many ways similar to how Jerry Lynn feels about 'smart' wrestling fans. That's my 2 cents anyway. Here, since you obviously have trouble reading, I made my statement a little bigger. Wow, kinda kills your argument, doesn't it? Also, I'm going to ask you a question. I have no clue how old you are, but I assume you watched a lot of wrestling during the Attitude Era. At any point in the last seven or eight years, did you ever take a break from wrestling? Did you keep watching it even when the product went a little south? If you stopped watching, at any point, congratulations, you're a hypocrite! No. I've been watching wrestling for the past, let me think, 19 years and at no point did I ever stop watching or enjoying wrestling. And to summarise my previous point: the 'fans' who do nothing but pick and sneer at the show as opposed to trying to enjoy it ruin it for the rest of us.

I stay pretty silent in the "Simpsons Now" vs. "Simpsons Then" debate on forums...
Reason why, is because I can have the same debate with my cousin.... only difference is.. something will be accomplished in that conversation, and we'll both walk away respecting each other's opinions.

I have only one complaint regarding this movie: no Sideshow Bob. I feel he deserved a spot in there.
Otherwise though, I loved it, and I haven't enjoyed The Simpsons since 2001.

I would love to know where this notion of, "I loved the show to begin with, so I have to stick with it," came from. If I go to a restaurant for a certain meal, and they stop serving it, why go back? And I'd love to know how my disenchantment with the Simpsons effects you in the least, because your enjoyment doesn't effect me. Do I come in your house while you're watching Simpsons and bludgeon you with a small hammer for continuing to watch it?

Do I come in your house while you're watching Simpsons and bludgeon you with a small hammer for continuing to watch it? I'm not the one who considers your comments a personal attack on me. The fact as I see it, is that the majority of the people who dump so much crap on the show are the people who have been with it for a long time and are constantly bitching how 'they've nothing good since the first 10 seasons', which imo is a very narrowminded viewpoint, and its these same fans will keep watching every episode, seemingly only for the purposes of saying 'That wasn't anywhere near as good as the show was 15 to 20 years ago'. Well no crap, sherlock. And that's what pisses me off, seeing all these pseudo-intellectuals going out of their way to throw heaps of negativity on it and constantly comment how it sucks and it's worthless and 'how could you even watch this crap?' until their heads are so far up their asses their in danger of turning inside out. That's what smurfs it up for the rest of us who just watch the show because we still do actually enjoy it, as mindboggling a prospect as that may be. So, if it's quite alright with you, I believe that's where I'll end this riveting and completely impersonal debate. Many happy returns Twisty McKnickers.

Never once have I asked you why you continue to "watch this crap", as you put it. Not once. Tell me where I said it. I took offense with the fact that I wasn't, in your words, "not a true fan" for not continuing to watch it, whatever the smurf that means. You started this idiotic debate, not me. I merely gave my opinion on why I don't watch the show anymore, and apparently I'm not entitled to my opinion. And considering you've done this in other threads, used your hyperinflated opinion as an excuse to take potshots at other people, don't act like you're being a better man for walking away, because you freakin' started it.
