Yeah, they were in the WON MOTY in 1992 because they were boring. In fact in that match, that's the loudest Japanese crowd I've ever heard. And the crowd didn't hate them because they were boring. I second the motion that it sucked that Furnas and Lafon didn't get over in ECW. I think they came in right before tape trading was big for ECW fans. Also, Raven has pointed this out, but when Malenko, Benoit and Eddie first went to ECW, the fans couldn't give a crap about them. But over time the fans came around once they appreciated what they were doing. That distinction of winning the WON means nothing. It's not as if that makes them any less boring. They were boring as hell in ECW and WWF, in Japan, wrestling is looked upon more fondly so guys who are not as great on the mic could get over. In Japan, they might've been all that, but here in the States they were nothing. THANK YOU! I'm sorry, but a workhorse doesn't make you instantly the best thing in wrestling. Get over it.

Great technical guys, but boring as hell. Not that surprised they didn't get much of a reaction. Tape trading was HUGE for ECW by late 1995. They weren't in ECW until 1997, well after Malenko, Benoit, Eddie, Psychosis, and Rey were there. And I'm with the guy who says awards mean nothing. Meltzer gave a match with Steamboat and Flair from Landover, MD in February 1989, and this is no joke, 6 stars and the crowd was hot. To me it was great and kept me entertained; to the person I was watching it with, a wrestling fan, they wanted to turn it off immediately. Different strokes for different folks. As for guys who weren't over: - Candido before Tammy came into ECW and when he wasn't with Bam Bam or Shane. - CW Anderson was sort of over, but he never seemed to fit in, especially to someone who had seen most of the TV to the point where he debuted. - Danny Doring without Roadkill - Chris Hamrick was a mixed bag. Depended on if they were in the North or South. - Mustafa/Kronus: the World's wackiest tag-team, got some good pops the first time they paired and then the novelty wore off. - Bad Crew, two of the nicest guys I've met, though - Samoan Gangsta Party, same - Chris Chetti You know what's even funnier to me? Some of the guys who DID get over. JT Smith Tommy Rich/Tracy Smothers The Gangstas Roadkill The Various Dudleys Simon Diamond/Swinger Jason

*Mustafa was most definitely over when he came back to feud with New Jack. It was pretty brief, but hey, he got some mass heat
*Roadkill was way more over than Doring, but once Lita came into the picture Doring got over thanks to dancing with her
*Bubba was most definitely over when he wrestled solo. His mini feud with Taz truly had me believing he was going to be the next ECW Champ
*Candido was CRAZY over! Even before he starting bringing Tammy out with him in 1998

Who was the guy who had one match in ECW, and went to jump off the top rope while his opponent was down, but, for whatever reason, decided to land on his feet and snapped his ankle in half? Everybody just yelled at him while he flailed around with, essentially, a severed foot. That would be Kareem.

I'd like to know more about this as I've never heard of this before. Wrestling Gone Wrong is your friend in matters such as these, involving horrifying injury. EDIT: I should clarify that Kareem looked like he had no clue whatsoever what he was doing out there, at least in this clip. He tried to launch himself off the top rope, probably halfway across the ring, onto Tommy Dreamer. So he climbs the ropes and stops with one foot on the top rope and one on the second turnbuckle. He, uhm, didn't get enough distance on the jump, put his feet down, and (SNAP!)

CW Anderson was getting over at the end. His match with Dreamer really making him something. Then ECW folds.

Justin Credible as champ. Wasn't Dreamer hated for ages before getting over with the crowd. Dreamer was your first ECW good guy heel almost. His character was that of a debuting WCW Jobber almost. I don't remember his really early years in ECW... but I do remember him as becoming much more over after Foley.

Billvis and the Prodigy Tom Marquez Edit: Also Scotty Riggs and Skull Von Krush This is a tough question, because if you weren't over, you didn't stick around very long. You had guys like Bad Crew (jobber tag team), Spiros Grecos (a Greek muscleman), and a few others who clogged up the opening matches who couldn't draw worth a crap. Cyberslam 1996 was full of these guys. (The only memorable thing on the entire show was Brian Pillman's surprise appearance.) Scott (Riggs) Anton was pretty over, even though he was a "heel" (everyone was a heel in comparison to facing Rob Van Dam), doing a parody of his old WCW "American Males" gimmick where he'd do a straight-armed "clap" over his head, which became his gimmick. Shoot, his tights had a gloved hand on the back with the word "Clap" on it. Word had it in the locker rooms, if you couldn't have a good match with Scotty Anton, you couldn't have a good match with anybody. I marked for Anton, even though he wasn't around that long. Without New Jack, Mustafa wasn't really over. There was a match where New Jack couldn't be there (he was jailed in Atlanta), so Mustafa took the mic and plodded his way through a boring interview that only popped the crowd when Damien Kane offered him a job shining shoes for the Headhunters. Mustafa looked at Lady Alexandria (Kane's woman and one of the hottest women ECW ever had, IMHO) and replied, "Yeah, I could use a job. I can use a hand job, baby!" To wit, Damien Kane and Devon Storm really weren't over either. They just sort of took up space. (Especially Kane; he looked like a roadie for a bad '70s Southern rock band.) Devon's only claim to fame was wrestling in WCW and the WWF before coming in. He looked like (Al Snow) Leif Cassidy with a blond mullet, and his thing was stealing other people's moves. He was blackballed later for appearing on Nitro with Ace Darling as "Team Extreme", so they had Taz squash him before he was fired.

^Forgot about Damien Kane, wasn't over in the least.
I don't think Tommy Rogers wasn't over either from what I can recall of his short stint there in 97-98.

CW Anderson was getting over towards the end. He had a great I Quit match with Dreamer at Guilty as Charged 2001. But Anderson's partner Bill Whiles wasn't over at all in my opinion.
How about Hot Commodity (Julio Dinerio and EZ Money)? I was never to sure about them. They were good but not sure how much the crowd was into it.

Yeah, that was one of my favorite teams of freaks in a long time. Prodigy, Prodigette, Mitch, Musketeer, Simon, and Swinger. Loved it. Also, everyone says that Chilly Willy wasn't over, but I remember him being one of the more over faces in the company, and was getting a decent push near the end. Of course, that might have been the Everyone's Favorite Homeboy gimmick though.
