lol Wow. He's a talented actor. I still like his movie Sling Blade the best. And like the site said, he's no stranger to killing in movies. Hacking people up with lawn mower blades and crap.

Billy Bob is only 8 years younger than Englund. If they wanted a younger person than Englund to be Freddy, they need to aim younger.
Not to knock of Billy Bob, but if they are going to pick someone so close to Englund's age, they might as well just use Englund again.

"That is the worst idea I have ever heard." "Yes. This is horrible. This idea." Seriously, if they must remake Nightmare on Elm Street, somebody give me one logical reason why Robert Englund can't be Freddy. He's covered in makeup, so age isn't an issue.

Wouldn't be that surprised if it came down to him trying to hold out for a bigger check, like with Peter Criss on the KISS farewell tour thingie.

I just noticed the genius that wrote the classic DOOM is writing this.

That wouldn't make sense considering his latest film is a REALLY low budget horror flick. He talked about it on Attack of the Show.

Yes, but to be Freddy, he or his agent might of thought that they would pay him anything to do it. Either that, or the studios don't want the stink left over from the abomination Freddy vs. Jason would taint the new one.

Hollywood, when it comes to remakes, is like a big fat man taking a crap, it doesn't matter where it takes a dump, and when it does, it really freakin' stinks*
*This is not denoting fat people in general, it is just used as a metaphor.

I can see it. Maybe Englund it just tired of the role and knows he can't add more to it. Thornton could add new spice to the recipe.

The way I see it, this doesn't take anything away from any of his other films.
The originals are still their for those fans, and all a remake serves to do is to introduce these films to newbies to the series, if they leave it wanting a taste for more.

Billy Bob Thornton is Terry Funk's nephew. Er, nothing else to add.

There is no need to get mad at remakes because the original isn't being replaced. It's still there for all to see and enjoy. Infact, sometimes remakes bring the originals back to prominance through DVD releases, TV play and all.

Englund can't play Freddy forever. Eventually someone else will have to take over the role.
Because, let's face it, Freddy will be around forever.

I swear, if you took away superhero movies and remakes, there'd only be like 20 original movies coming out every year.

I can see it. Maybe Englund it just tired of the role and knows he can't add more to it. Thornton could add new spice to the recipe. In his interview on Attack of the Show, he said he wanted to be a part of the film, just the film makers didn't say what he could do. He, himself had a look of disappointment for not being asked to reprise his famed role.

Robert can still do it as far as I'm concerned. They just wanna do this movie so they can add a lot of special effects, which those will be the real star of the film in the company's eyes.

Plus he's aged pretty damn good, so he could probably play Kruegar in human form as well if need be. I love Billy Bob and everything, but he isn't 'scary'.
