to be honest, I like this casting decision. I mean, I can understand that Robert Englund can't do this forever, and Billy Bob's a great actor, so this should be interesting.

I'm actually against this casting decision. In order for us to be frightened of Kruger, in my mind, it has to be someone relatively unknown. And if Billy Bob were cast, all I'd see was the guy who was in "Sling Blade" under a ton of make-up. Same goes for ANY name actor. Besides (and Deadpool will back me up on this), there is only one guy to play Freddy...and that man is...

Decent choice if they choose to do it from an early perspective then the original or with alot of backstory like remakes tend to enjoy...I was actually thinking Ryan Stiles as well from "Whos Line is it Anyway" flickr.com/photos/unsinnimage/2344791852/He definitely has the look

Guess Billy Bob finally got tired of playing the same character in every movie.

Hollywood, when it comes to remakes, is like a big fat man taking a crap, it doesn't matter where it takes a dump, and when it does, it really freakin' stinks* *This is not denoting fat people in general, it is just used as a metaphor. Remakes aren't always bad. Scarface and Cape Fear, for example. Trust me, in the Horror genre, remakes are almost ALWAYS BAD. Especially when Platinum Dunes are behind them, and judging from this casting decision it's a safe bet that they are.

Either that, or the studios don't want the stink left over from the abomination Freddy vs. Jason would taint the new one. Freddy vs. Jason was a box office success. I can actually picture Billy Bob Thornton as Freddy as well as Cillian Murphy and Ryan Stiles. I don't know who would be the best but as I have come to learn, acting ability > looks the part (not to knock Ryan Stiles who is hilarious).

Remakes aren't always bad. Scarface and Cape Fear, for example. The Departed, Maginificent Seven and Wizard of Oz as well. Also, what you just said is how I feel man. There is no need to get mad at remakes because the original isn't being replaced. It's still there for all to see and enjoy. Infact, sometimes remakes bring the originals back to prominance through DVD releases, TV play and all. Yes, and my rebuttal to THAT factoid always is: They're rarely NECESSARY (whatever happened to making a f***ing SEQUEL?) and they will ALWAYS be a pain in my ass, simply because now, thanks to Platinum f***ing DUNES, I have to give the monkey behind the video counter SPECIAL instructions BY YEAR in order to get the movie I want. I can no longer just say "Give me the TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, please.". NOW I have to tell him "Give me the 1974 TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. No, not that one, that's the shitty remake. THE OTHER ONE. The GOOD one. No, that's the shitty PREQUEL. THE ORIGINAL, jackass! Tobe f***ING Hooper's movie...not Michael f***ING Bay's turdwich.....goddamnit, to your LEFT! Your OTHER LEFT, assmunch! There, that one!". See? Because of Platinum Dunes I am banned from Blockbuster. f***ing assholes.

Whoever plays Freddy needs to have rodent-esque features. Even in his burned state Freddy looks rat-like.

Though it also depends on which Freddy are they going to use? The badass psycho mind games Freddy from the first movie or the campy, one-liner Freddy from other films? If they are going for serious Freddy, then Billy Bob or Cillian Murphy would be perfect, but if going for the campy Freddy, it HAS to be Ryan Stiles.

Billy Bob hasn't had a good role since Sling Blade
If he played Krueger as Carl though, I'd mark
"Reckon you ought not thrown me in that boiler."
"Freddy, what are you doing with those finger sheers?"
"Reckon on killing you with em...mmmmhmmmm."

Billy Bob hasn't had a good role since Sling Blade His best role wasn't even in Sling Blade, it was A Simple Plan. Total brilliant performance, released the same year as Primary Colors, and in my opinion even blew it out of the waters.
