I am of the rare opinion that bullying, to a certain extent, is good for you. It sucks, it makes you miserable at the time, yeah. But for me at least, it made me tougher. It made me absorb it. It made me individual. It made me stop caring what anybody else thought and be my own man, because I'd get bullied anyway, and it made me talk back to them and outsmart them.
I used to get the piss taken cause of my hair. In the end, I started running a league table of original insults, and encourage them, and congratulate them if they thought of something good.
And those idiots now all work in Asda or sit outside corner shops all day, drinking Stella Artois at 8:45am. They've got nowhere in life, they will never get anywhere else.

Pfft...what's funny is I ended up becoming friends with all the school's regualr badasses
Most of the preppy people who had picked on me before because I was poor were now kissing my ass because of who I was associated with.
I do have admiration for one bully of mine, he didn't necessarily say the regular things, he was very creative with his cruel words. No regrets

I'm in college, going to be a senior. There are no bullies anymore, lol. I remember either my freshman year or early into my sophomore year of college, I was going into the Hollis Center (basically our Rec Center) and 4 guys were leaving and one of them made a comment to me either about the way I looked or what I was wearing. I just shook my head and laughed at him. So the moral of the story is that some people just can't let go of their high school nonsense.

I became friends with one of the more, I wouldn't say feared, but respected people in my school year, and suddenly the people who would probably have given me a hard time left me alone. I guess I became the Kevin Nash of my school, I made friends in all the right places.

I don't know...
When I was in grade school I just had an argument with two guys. With one it ended rather quickly and with no real problems, with another one I just took his lame jokes on me, told him to smurf himself and his friends and it was over.
In High School we use to have a "mark the juniors" day, when older guys chase the juniors with pens, markers and whatnot to "brand" them, teaching them who the bosses are. When that day come, as a junior, I was waiting for the seniors with a broad range of permanent markers; they thought it was better leaving me alone.
Besides that, back when I was in school the bullism phenomenon wasn't all that rampant anyway, and I've always in relatively quiet and "upper class" schools. Plus, my class used to "run" the whole place anyway in high school, with many members of Student Union, lackeys of the Principal [no, I wasn't one of them...] and the Official Badass Guy, so nobody really had the desire to mess with us.

They are jackasses, and unfortunately their parents and society doesn't seem to care about them. They are also a catalyst (although as much as I detest bullies not the sole direct cause) of things like Columbine. Unfortunately, many of them are the way they are because of god awful parents. Not to excuse their actions, but in most cases the parents tend to be the problem for bad children. Although there are certain one's who are just jerks because that's what they are.

There's bullies in high school?
I thought they disappeared and were replaced by cliques, groups and teams
Seriously I had seen my share of fights and gangs, arrests, drugs in high school, but bullying never happened

Yeah, we didn't have bullies in our school. If someone would try to bully someone, they would probably have the shit beat out of them.

I was a bully for a while... I never beat anyone, or stole money, I was just kind of a dick.. I think about it sometimes, and have actually apologized for a few people I may have hurt back in the day. It was bad karma for sure

If you can gain the bullies respect, by standing up to them or showing them you are not afraid they will leave you alone. What, happened to me was I was pushed down the bleachers in the gym and hit every step on the way down and then hit the concrete floor, I then proceeded to stand up and get in the bastards face that pushed me down and he just kinda stood there in shock. Never had a problem with anyone ever again after that. Standing up to them like that backfired on me. I made him look bad, so he had to work me over double time to get back his reputation. The thing that finally stopped it was taking an assbeating and no selling it, which made him look even more like a bitch.

Its funny to go back to local parties and see the old bullies still trying to pick fights so they can forget the pain of their shifts at the gas station.

Stick up for yourself. Bullies don't pick on people that start swinging on anybody that starts talking crap. Even if you get your ass beat a couple times after a while they'll just find somebody that doesn't fight back.
