All due respect to the deceased, but...
Jack Nicholson's Joker > Heath Ledger's Joker

Jack Nicholson's Joker > Heath Ledger's Joker While I agree with this equation, I truely believe its because Jack got to the role first. If Ledger had first crack at it, he probably would have produced something on par with the style that Jack did. Since Nicholson had already perfected that version of the Joker - Ledger had to create his own, which to his credit, Nicholson probably couldn't have done. So - Nicholson's did a great job of producing a character I feel was closest to the source materials. But - Ledger showed more balls (for lack of a better word) and acting ability in that he saw what Nicholson did, realized he couldn't top it in that way and then went his own way with the character - creating what I believe is an equally memorable character in its own right. But I prefer one that is closer to what I precieve the source material to be. bababooey! bababooey! bababooey! bababooey!

Personally, I think people are heaping more praise on him that they would if he hadn't died, but he most certainly gave a fantastic performance. I just think Jack's was better.

Eh, it's apples & oranges to me. Jacks performance was funny and all, but Heath's was just psychotic.

You know that scene shortly after this when Batman save the day to which Joker asks "Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
Well I remember that there was more to that, Joker looks at his men and then yells "Well go ask him!" but for some reason that's not in the home versions of the flick, what the Hell happened to it?

What makes it strange is that the cut between "wonderful toys" and Batman running out the doors is so abrupt that you can tell that something was there, but it's cut none the less.

I like the goofy Joker like Hamill and Jack do it. A lot of insanity with a touch of dementia.

I still think Jack Nicholson was the best version of the Joker and that Joel Schumacher should get his ass kicked up and down every street in Gotham for ruining Batman.

In terms of relatability, I kinda like Ledger's more (I mean, I'm not about to blow up buildings or anything, but ya know, that "wanting to prove that deep down everyone's as ugly a person as you are" thing), but in terms of entertainment, I think I too prefer Nicholson's. (They're both stellar performances, just, if grilled about it, that's my explanation )

Hah, awesome. I used to rewind the VHS version of this and watch this scene over and over again as a kid. I was an odd child.
