The point of the movie was to set up the new TV series Well, here's the thing, is there even any point to that, or do you really think it'll last long? With this animation, and basically taking place between two chapter's we've seen already, there's not gonna be any kind of surprise or suspense. It's hard to say what will happen to it, but I'm not very optimistic with my prognosis. I got no problem with the animation like other people do and I can see the series lasting about a year or two

Yeah, if anything they should give us a TV series with things that happen after Return of the Jedi. I think with the three films and cartoon series we've gotten enough of the prequel stuff. I'm really just not that interested in this film or any TV series that takes place at the same point in the Star Wars timeline as the film. Enough is enough. They are doing a Live action series that takes place after Episode 3 up to New Hope, Here is what Stan Sweet said on the Live Action TV series I saw the first Ewok movie didn't care for it Still better than the prequels. That's your opinion I will respect that. But I like the prequels.

I just couldn't get into them, and I even tried to use my love of giant monsters to get some sort of connection to them (the underwater sequence in the first one, for instance). I loved the Ewoks movies mostly for the big stop-motion creatures, though I have to say Wilford Brimley as the crotchety old hermit in the second one was fun.

Lucas's problem is that he got too many yes men around him Sith was the only watcheable prequel, yeah, I'll admit that. As to Lucas' problem? Honestly, he's got himself convinced that fancy effects and CGI and all that crap can be used as a substitute for good acting and storytelling. Who cares if Hayden Christenson can't act his way out of a paper bag, as long as there's a billion and one droids in the background, Lucas is happy.

I think it had something to do with releasing it theatrically instead of straight-to-DVD ala The Animatrix & Gotham Knight.

Lucas has said he expected it make around 30 million since it is just a TV pilot He knew since it wasn't live action it wasn't going to make that much money Yet he's still stupid to make it I wouldn't be suprised if he continues on from where Episode 6 left off I mean this IS George Lucas...he's got nothing better to do

At first there wasn't going to be a movie but Dave Filoni suggested that they take the first three episodes of the show and release it in theaters

Apparently, it's just 3 episodes of the series put together. It's like having WWE: The Movie and just having an episode of Smackdown on. Don't give the geniuses at the E an idea like that. They already do that, it is called Saturday Night's Main Event.

Regardless of what anyone may say, this cannot be looked at as an "official" part of Star Wars... as the story has already been complete. All the necessary parts have been told in the six movies, so the "By the way, this also happened" stories aren't going to get much notoriety. For the franchise, if they want to do big numbers again.. it'll have to be a live-action movie set before The Phantom Menace, or after Return Of The Jedi. I'd be open to a new trilogy that takes place AFTER Jedi. I don't want more prequels though. HOWEVER, if they wanted to do a set of fils and the first one or two happened to kiss Empire/Jedi, that'd be fine. Like maybe they'd include what was going on, from a different perspective. Think: like Back to the Future 2 in a way, just no time travel. You could have the story we know happening in the background while the story being told is going on. Imagine a scene taking place shortly before or shortly after the Millennium Falcon arrives/departs somewhere. Or a scene of someone not making it off Leia's planet when it gets blown up. Or perhaps... you get the idea.

The point of the movie was to set up the new TV series That's a gimme. And for that, I have no problem. I saw this with my son and husband and we all three enjoyed it. And the hubs is a big Star Wars fan. Huge. And he didn't have a problem with it. I think it was the crap release date that did it in. Properly spun, this would've done fine.

I actually watched the Ewok films the other night. The first one is pretty poor but I like the second one. I agree about the stop motion creatures, and Wilford Brimley could only have been better if it turned out he was an old Jedi. I also think that the Droids cartoon`s art direction and style is spot on for the Star Wars universe, way better than the prequel trilogy. The animation may be poor but it just looks right. The pirates especially, with their equipment pieced together from scavenged goods.

It's kinda sad really...
When I was a kid, George Lucas was the man. He gave us Star Wars and Indiana Jones. But now, 20 years later, he's given us nothing else, and he just keeps trying to squeeze more out of his two big successes. And I've really soured on him a lot.
Maybe he should've just quietly retired and been content with the fact at, in addition to being filthy smurfin' rich, he created two incredibly successful franchises that made a major impact on American culture.

Hey, older guys and gals on here!
'Member when we heard about the Clone Wars in the original trilogy and wondered how awesome they must have been to cause all this coolness going on in "A New Hope"?
Yeah...

The animation? The story adding a character that seems more annoying than Jar Jar Binks? Those are just some of the reasons.

First off, the art style isn't anime(remember, anime is only made in Asia). It is anime inspired(ala Avatar: The Last Airbender or Teen Titans), but not anime.
Secondly, the animation did bother me at first, until I noticed that everyone looked like they were hand painted and not CGI. With that in mind, to me, the animation looks like a painting in motion.

Here's the reasons I have no interest in this film:
1. I'm just plain not in a Star Wars mood. I love Star Wars, but right now I'm kinda looking for stuff with Super heroes or vampires.
2. Of all the prequels, Attack of the Clones was the WORST one. Yes, even Jake Llyod and Jar Jar Binks were better than that miserable second movie. You had NO memorable villain (god bless Christopher Lee, but Count Dooku sucked dookie), you had NO chemistry between Haden and Natilie (I've seen them in other movies...and when Haden was turning evil in Revenge...neither of them are bad actors, IMO, but just didn't have that special spark together. You can blame that on the dialoge I guess, but I think it's a combination.) and no real inspiring heroes...maybe Yoda, but eh...not really. Because of my dislike for that Attack of the Clones, I have NO desire to see ANOTHER movie just like it.
3. ENOUGH! I'm sick of these prequel movies! If George wants to do another Star Wars movie, then either do Knights of the Old Republic or Episode VII. Vader and the Emperor are finished...I've heard pretty much everything I need to hear about them. To see Mark Hamill back as Luke Skywalker, supreme Jedi master, or Harrison back as Han Solo, grizzled wise cracking war veteran...that's more my style!
4. I admit that I'm no expert, but the animation looked fine to me...flowed ok and stuff...not jerky...but that smurfing artwork looked miserable! I couldn't watch the Cartoon Network Clone Wars because all the artwork was done by that no talent loser that did Samuri Jack. That blocky/cylinder art of his is hideously unappealing. This movie looks exactly like that art style, but in CGI.
Someone said that George has too many Yes Men around him, and I think that is an incredibly accurate way of looking at it. This movie/cartoon was a really bad idea. Crystal Skull was a really bad idea. ALWAYS doing things with fancy CGI is a really bad idea. Lucas needs to be shot down a bunch when it comes to creativity.
