if the WCCW dvd can be released and pimped to hell irregardless of the fact that WCCW has been dead since before i was alive then why the hell can't Starrcade get a release? you cant say that they cant use flair benoit or sting footage because they own the rights to it. if lance storm can get royalties off of any dvd he appears on then why the hell cant they just do the same here *end rant*

They have access to all those tapes, why shouldn't they put those out? Ego is the only thing I can think of.

No, think about it. Sting headlined like 3 Starcades, but he's with TNA now. Flair is out of a WWE contract, so his involvement with the project is probably unknown, but you couldn't do it without him. For all we know, he could be on TNA when the DVD is released. So of the Big WCW names, that leaves Hogan, who again, would probably do it, but let's face it, Hogan's matches at SC kinda sucked. So that leaves Ed Leslie, Vader, Black Scorpion and the usual gang of idiots/ Legends. So basically, there is no one to put on this thing.

Great. The three DVD titles that WWE comes up with that actually spark some serious interest - Starrcade, Savage and Sting - and the whole lot gets cancelled. Nice work, Vince. You have no idea if these DVDs sparked "serious interest". It's just as likely that they were shelved because nobody was pre-ordering them. If they could have made a lot of money on them, they'd be coming out.

It's funny to think about the fact that WWE could shut down, tomorrow, and the McMahon family could still make tons of money just by releasing different videos from the tape libraries of WWF, WCW, ECW, etc. etc. They'd save on production costs, traveling and payroll, so they may even make more money, in the long run. That's just speculation, though.

Maybe they were planning on changing around the matches. Or hell, maybe they're even planning on making it a box set. I wouldnt just assume its bacause they hate NWA.

TNA involvement wouldn't mean a hoot then. The HBK 3 disc set features matches with Jarrett and Angle and many, many mentions of Nash; the Ladder Match disc is filled with Dudleys, plenty of discs have had Savage and Sting matches, etc. It was porbably a case of either lack of interest or just dropping/changing the idea (Anyone remember how the awful McMahon DVD was originally scheduled to be an Austin/McMahon DVD?)

Aw damn, I was hoping to see some classic Starrcade matches with alternate commentary by Gerald Brisco!

I wasn't even aware that anyone gave a s*** about Starrcade. I've never even heard it mentioned in casual conversation with smarks and marks alike.
Aren't most of the GOOD Starrcade matches on random best-of DVDs anyway?
And for the "Vince hates WCW this much!" stuff - no. If Vince could make an asston of money for himself off of WCW, he'd totally do it. It'd probably feel like sex to him. But there's barely a market for old WCW stuff anymore. Just because ECW had lasting appeal with casual WWE fans, doesn't mean WCW does too.

Much like the mythical and repeatedly yanked Randy Savage DVD, I actually didn't have any firm hopes on this coming out any time soon anyway. In fact I thought it'd already been pulled from even the hypothetical line-up.
I'm a big fan of Sting but, no matter how often I might see a Sting DVD on a projected DVD line-up from WWE, I'm not betting anything on it until I see it out there on the shop shelves. When it comes to things like that, you don't set your heart on soul on it happening.

While your right about people probably not knowing Starrcade that should not stop them doing a Best of WCW as a whole of which they would be aware off and outting down a list of top wcw matches and moments. Lets face it anything wcw on dvd has always been in relation to how Vince defeated them or they stole talent etc etc and where dirty and underhand to his virtous methods complete with Jerry Briscoe views on what he would do to them.
