Don't blame me.......that wasn't my opinion. An old review of the first Ninja Turtles film has Siskel and Ebert bashing this movie for some of the most hilarious reasons...from Siskel(R.I.P.) saying that it should have been more like Karate Kid (and have no humor) to Ebert upset that the film wasn't a bright and bouncy film full of cuddly love. They also insult kids when they say that kids only liked it because they weren't old enough to know a good film from a bad one at 5 years old....etc. These guys come up with tons of more crappy reasonings to hate this film....but don't take my word for it. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_kmgzcIF0lY&feature=related

I agree with them. I re-watched it when I got the DVD box about a year and a half ago and couldn't believe how bad of a movie it was. It was a cheesy movie filled with bad dialogue and weird looking turtles.

I enjoyed the movie when I was a child, and I was no fool, thank you very much.

As much as I've always enjoyed the Siskel and Ebert show I always knew which movies those guys just wouldn't "get". Childrens movies and some of the more R-rated comedies are right at the top of that list.

I liked it.
The only thing that made it inferior in my eyes was the lack of Ninja Rap.

I loved it.......And i still do
Ebert also hated "A Clockwork Orange", so he can kiss my shiny metal ass.

I watched this and the review for TMNT 2. I enjoyed both films as a kid, but they make some fair points about the Turtles. They were idiots.

There was no conceivable way that a concept like the Ninja Turtles would have appealed to them.

Though they did make some valid points about the Turtles being dumb, it was one of the more imaginative concepts for kids at the time. I'm sure there was better stuff, but as far as action/superhero type stuff, what else was there?

The movies started going to hell and a handbasket when the producers started dumbing things down to appeal to kids, who watched the cartoon. Hence, the turtles hardly use their weapons in the sequels, we get those Bebop and Rocksteady clones (Toka and Razar), Super Shredder (played by Kevin Nash), Vanilla Ice, and time travel elments (in the third movie). It also didn't help that Casey Jones wasn't in the second one and Judith Hoag didn't come back as April O'Neil.

Otherwise, I'm not a fan of nostalgia critic or anyone who dwells on opinions made in the past. No offense.

I'm an idiot for different reasons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a great movie, didn't age too well, but now it's just fun to watch when wanting to be entertained without paying too much attention.
I started watching Siskel and Ebert regularly in about '95, but never let them decide what I liked, mainly for clips and stuff for stuff I couldn't see until later on.

I liked Siskel & Ebert's show.
I thought it was interesting to hear what they would say, even if they didn't like a movie that I liked, or vice versa.
