if he's retiring (yeah i know i'm jumping the gun a little bit), he needs to face HBK at least once before he goes. they've been building to this match for ages, and keep hinting at it, but if taker's starting to break down mabe it's best to pull the trigger on it sooner rather than later for this match. Haven't they faced each other before? Like, back in 97? I don't get the big "dream match" here.

In 2008/2009, they're THE 2 major veterans of the company and wrestling legends. I thought for sure we'd see HBK/Taker at WM24 given the Royal Rumble set-up for a feud that never happened.

What's with all this talk of retirement? This is Taker we're talking about here. He'll stay a wrestler until he f***ing dies, and everything else is an understatement.

I don't know about that. Some of the workrate could be replaced by crowd pleasing spots or just good psychology. Add in the hot crowd and with some work it could be an excellent match with plenty of tension.

The Undertaker was the reason I started watching Wrestling, when I was about 5 years old. I'm 22 now. That's 17 years that the man has been around, and in that time he has done Casket Matches, Inferno Matches, Ladder Matches, Cage Matches, TLC matches, and lord knows how many HIAC matches.
MY knees would be shot after doing a quarter of those things.
If his injuries really are that bad, I hope he has the sense to make it to Wrestlemania in his hometown, and then retire after one blaze of glory.
It's kind of depressing to see my favorite superstar ride off into the sunset, though.

I love Taker too. But it is not good when one is unhealthy AND wears out his welcome.

That were I think your wrong. It maybe better then they ever had outside of hell in a Cell. Being that Taker in 97 wrestled a different style. When you watch Taker these says and from his post heel run as the ABA days. Taker wrestles a quicker style and uses different moves that he didn't use. When you watch Taker against Angle for example. Taker was doing stuff nobody ever seen him do. When he cameback as the deadman. His first months on Smackdown he was pull out new moves again. So really it seems like Taker is like a fine wine. That he got better with age. HBK the same way. For the most part HBK wrestle no different then he did in his prime. There not much he doesn't do that he did back then. You watch him in the last couple of years and you see that. His match with Cena last year that he went a freaking hour with a bad knee I remind you. He still showed why he the best. How limit you think he is when he had great matches against Jericho all Summer. Before that against Flair at WM. Both men in a big match, step it up and show how great they are.

Actually even that is an understatement, considering the fact he's actually died several times now and still continues to be a wrestler. Now that's dedication to the business.

I absolutely cannot imagine the wrestling world without 'Taker. He has been my favorite wrestler since first grade and I will cry when he hangs up his hat. I know, right. Same with me. To further put it in perspective, think about it in this way: Every WWF or WWE wrestling video game that I own, from the original Nintendo to PS3, has The Undertaker in it. That's amazing in and of itself. I don't think there is anyone else that has been able to appear on every game, as an active competitor in their respective field (NBA, NFL, etc.).

Honestly, Taker's more or less been finished for a while now. I love him, but hate to see him plodding about the ring as he does, it's just sad. I prefer to remember him as the big dead man with deceptive grace and agility. I'll miss him when he hangs it up, but really what is there left for him? I'd mark for commentary. Just have him sit there with his eyes rolled back in his head quiet as can be only occasionally saying something creepy and generally making his co-commentator as uncomfortable as possible. Rest in peace, big guy. You were/are/will always be the crap.

I hope you are right and it is newz. Feels like the truth tho. You tell me from watching the Undertaker matches. Anything that shows he knees being so bad and make it believable. He moves the same he always done if not at a quicker pass then he did in the earily 90s. You hardly see a knee pad on the guy. When you compare what he wear as padding. Compared to everyone else on the roster who had knee problems. Taker is wearing small normal pads. While HBK has braces on which even with baggy pants you can see them. HHH who hasn't been around as long as Taker. As a finisher like Takers you land on the knees. HHH wears a lot of padding now. Had two torn quads and also knee surgery in the late 90s. Use to have braces on them. Austin again braces. Kevin Nash you can see braces under his pants also like HBK. Same with Mysterio who his cut open Matt Hardy badly. Look at JBL's one leg. A ton of padding and a brace. Look at Hogan with his braces. Look at how Terry Funk walks because of bad knees. Mean while you see none of that on Taker. Taker and what he wears since late 05. You would see all of that if they where as bad as they say it is and he would be walking funny and moving very slow like Hogan and Funk. None are the case. Painkillers are wonderful things..just sayin'

IF he retires, wins @ Mania, Gets a Flair-like send-off, won't that make Hulk Hogan mad? By the way, preserve the streak. None of the young guys deserve that honor. None of them.

This is news? His knees were bad when he dissappeared in like 1999 before he came back as the Biker. It's why he started using the Last Ride to keep his knees going. God damn it, I was just going to post this. Actually, it was a very serious groin pull (and a really messy divorce from his first wife) that had him out 6 months. He tried coming back in January 2000 at a couple of house shows in Puerto Rico, but he still couldn't work a singles' match. I just leafed through a January 2000 issue of the Torch not 3 days ago and thought I'd share.
