LOL, I remember watching this with friends at university. When Freddy said that line, one of them reacted by saying "Such a racist!" in a You Cheeky Bastard tone of voice. I got to see an advanced screening in St. Louis about 4 days before it officially released. I was surrounded by black guys. And they all literally cheered at that line. Haha, I had the same experience when I saw it in Boston.

Haha, I had the same experience when I saw it in Boston. As a matter of fact, these guys were a little TOO into it... In the scene where Freddy realizes he's in the real world and looks over his shoulder at Jason in the burning cabin, with the heavy metal music playing... Those same guys literally started yelling at Freddy, "Yea!! Yeah!! No what muthaf---ah!!!"

F v J was also the first Jason or Freddy movie that I had ever seen in a theater, and it was an awesome experience. After hearing all of the high-minded "film analysts" say that they expected the movie to draw in $23-$25 million total box office, seeing the packed house that I was in and a very enthusiastic crowd was awesome. And we beat the critics' box office prediction in the OPENING WEEKEND. One other thing, though - while I'll readily take a successful horror movie, especially one for these two icons, I often wonder how many kids who went and saw this movie had no clue what they were REALLY watching. There's someone I work with (or will, for another week - TR got a new job ;D) that I borrow horror flicks to all the time, and she admitted that until I borrowed her the F13 and NOES box sets, she had no clue that the characters were in any previous movies. Kind of disheartening.

I remember going to see this with my friends. We all turned 17 and were eager to go. I almost got lynched outside the theatre because I wore a familar sweater and bowler and held a sign saying,"Jason Fears Freddy" It was a pro-Jason crowd as tons of people wore hockey masks.
It was awesome, the crowd was into it except for these 2 college kids taking their girlfriends and standing up and telling everyone to shut up. Needless to say, they paid for their meddling. The entire audience booed the crap out of them.
I enjoyed the movie, it managed to invoke a genuine horror feeling that the two movies always were able to do. I will admit, the survivors were unlikable. (The guy from Dead Man on Campus died!!)The overall story had some eyeroll moments but it was great. Easily one of the best of both installments and proof that when you hire someone that knows and respects the source material, you can get gold out of it.

The crowd I saw it with opening night was really into the flick. All the kills got cheers, especially Trey's (which I like to call "Hida-Dead") and there was a huge laugh when Lochlyn "Kick Me in the Junk" Munro was revealed as the Deputy.

Freddys reaction when he realizes hes in the real world is hilarious. He like looks around like "who...me!? You want...me!?" and hes like kinda pointing and stuff.
I didnt like how Freddy dominated. I can understand the dream world, but then in the real world Freddy turns into this great fight and is dodging and moving and pretty much beating the hell out of Jason. I unno maybe its because we never see anyone think to actually do that, but still . Sure Jason came out with his head at the end, but that might have been a dream. It looked very surreal.
Oh and I hate that part where Freddy is stuck to that one big thing (cant remember) thats swinging around, hes going back and forth...Jasons getting unstuck...Freddys slowly coming towards Jason...Jasons unstuck...Jasons FINALLY gonna get a huge hit...AND...Jason just kinda helps him off and sets him on the ground. He doesnt even do it violently he just sets him there. He practically helps him.
The movie was way better then it should have been though. Its not great, but I love it, and actually not even in a completely campy way like Jason X. Oh but even though Monica Cambell looks really good, she was a bad actor in that movie. Most of them were...

So, now that we're done with the series in general, what's everyone thoughts on the upcoming "re-quel? Looking up the info on it, it seems interesting. It looks like it's basically doing 1-3 in it's entirety with Jason as a boy, in a sack, and with a hockey mask all in one movie. Jason also seems to have his old look back, with his half mutant head, half long head of hair. Hell it also looks like he has his utility belt back from part VI. Whatever the case there's probably a 99% chance I'll see it.

Just a couple months ago, I was very very VERY against it.
I'm actually very passionate about the upcoming ANOES remake, because, IMO, the original movie hasn't aged well AT ALL. And just like you said in your first post, the original F13 (and I know this remake isn't strictly a remake of the first film, but bare with me) is a movie that has aged beautifully, and thus doesn't need a revamp.
However, over the past couple months, I've done an about face on that. While we may not like all the remakes, one of the added benefits is that they serve as an entry point for a newer generation of fans to discover the series, and maybe, just maybe, we might get a special edition DVD boxset (with director's cuts!) out of the deal. And if that happens, I'm all for it. And I'll be seeing it as well.

I'm looking forward to the remake/reboot/redux/whatever. Looks like it might be fun. And, thanks to this remake, we're getting the original movie uncut, Part 3 in 3-D, and the documentary "His Name is Jason." All good. *thumbs up*
And, I like to think that, since Jason's getting remade, he now sits in the company of the likes of Dracula and Frankenstein, whose stories have been told and re-told on film since the birth of film.

And another thing, I'm always stunned or shocked or whatever when I read the "OMG Jason is running in this? Fail!" comments I see on YouTube and such. Have they not seen 2, 3 or 4? Probably not. P.S. Anyone wanna do A Nightmare on Elm Street next so we can talk about the Springwood Slasher?

Anyone wanna do A Nightmare on Elm Street next so we can talk about the Springwood Slasher? I never get tired of plugging this - NEVER! I know DSR has one, but perhaps I can interest anyone in one of these: officialfan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=offtopic&action=display&thread=125958And hell, I'll do an ANOES random thoughts thread. It might have to wait until next week, though - going up to the Twin Cities to watch Survivor Series (my first live, actual, WWE wrestling I've watched since the Raw immediately following WrestleMania) and then I got work business to take care of early next week. And this does NOT count on me rescending on my promise to retire the TR reviews threads. Those have ridden off into the sunset. ;D Thanks again, Erisi, for this awesome thread.

I'm willing to hang out at the Elm Street Random Thoughts Party, but I'm missing parts 4 and 5, so don't expect my usual (lack of) insights on them. Would we re-watch Freddy vs. Jason, but tailor the discussion to the Freddy-ness, instead of the Jason-ness this time?

I'll do Freddy vs. Jason again. Don't know if I'll be able to wittle it down to Nightmare specifics, but I'll do my best.
