Seriously. I've heard the jokes about him having some code. Seems true. I never considered the guy to be championship material to begin with, but what's he done to justify all of these title shots?

its a fake sport, theres no real rankings or system for determining title shots, hes the second most over guy in the company so hes always in or near the title picture by default

Well, like with Punk in ECW, he wins a lot of qualifying matches.
The answer though is that he's got a lot of fans, and a really impressive look. He's good enough at his job to be a surefire for any empty slot in a main event.
He's not my favorite, but I couldn't justify shutting him out, either. It'd be like AWA's treatment of Hogan.

As soon as you announce Batista's getting a shot, you get a huge pop and probably some buyrates, but he's not political enough to demand he wins if he gets into the picture, so they can use him to build up a heel champ like Edge or Jericho.

Um, because rematch clauses are not only allowed, they're encouraged?
Or because it's his belt and come this Sunday (or next or whenever the upcoming PPV is), he'll be wanting it back?

I find him and his infinite title shots dull. ...but hes over, way over, so its pretty much a given that he's gotta be in the chase. I preferred it when he was on Smackdown out the way

In Kayfabe its because he either earns the shot in a match, or in the actual title match he ends up getting screwed. He never actually just gets title shots over and over for no reason...

At least he's knocked off the referring to the belt as already his, and says he'll win it.
I still do not grasp what exactly his character's motivation was for treating CM Punk like crap. Did they even have a title match? If not, they crapped on of their popular players for no particular reason. Oh well, at least they gave Punk something of an out, rather than just had him drop it in the match, since if they really didn't believe in him, they would of removed him earlier, before the PPV was sold, since they wouldn't of expected him to contribute as much to buyrates as Jericho.
Sorry for the rambling. Anyway, I would like to see closure with Batista and Punk, but it'll have to logically wait until one of them gets the belt.

Remember that newz a few weeks ago that he was unhappy about his spot and hinting at retirement in a couple of years? Yeah, wouldn't suprise me if he were holding that over Vince's head.

Booker T apparently did that, which was said to be a big reason he kept major gold off of Booker. It was only after they hired Sharmell to appease him that he decided to stick around, and lo and behold, title gold. So, it's certainly a possibility. Batista is in his forties, I believe, so it's not like he's Cena's age. Not as in it for the long haul.

Why did JBL keep getting title shots when he kept losing when Punk was champ?
All you have to do to get a title shot is interrupt the champ during a promo. If people on this board had entrance music they could do it too.

Batista is far more over than Cena in my opinion.
