Let's say if you had some freak thing happened if you woke up one day, and realized you were in your younger version self, and you had no way to get back. Would you try to stop anything bad from happening? And what would about a case of doing stuff earlier then you did the first time? I would fix my life completely and correct myself and make things right. That is a dream for me. As for everything else. There are too many things in the past I wish was corrected. I'm sorry, everything. I'm just one guy.

Guys, I time travel all the time. ALL THE TIME.
At the rate of one second per second I continue my quest to the future!

From what I know of time travel, that is to say what TV and Movies have told me, going back to the past to change things never actually changes anything and more then likely your messing around is what caused the thing you were trying to change in the first place.
I went back in time and tried to vote against Hitler but cuz my German is so crummy I ended up voting for Hitler, he won by 1 vote.

If you went back to stop the Lincoln assassination, nobody would believe you. However, while you tried to convince people, John Wilkes Booth would overhear it, and learn about the security hole, and go kill Lincoln. Wait... People would want to save Abe... ... . . .. I mean... Go Lincoln.

If I could travel back in time I probably wouldn't care about changing major events in history or anything, I would just go to 1976-1982 and try to somehow end up in Debbie Harry's bed (and proceed to fail horribly).

Great topic, some of the views I've been reading are very intruiging.
My opinion bases itself on perspective. I think any attempt at time travelling backwards would merely throw you into a parallel universe where the state of entropy is slower. To the traveller, it would most defintely appear that were in an earlier time.
The question is: if you were that traveller, then would you being the only one who recognised that you were in another time cause you to behave differently? Would you lie low to not disrupt the timeline or attempt to alter something for the better / yours or someone else's personal gain?
To me, that new future you would be creating would have as much right to "exist" as one where you did not time travel.
But to echo some earlier points, entropy will finish us all at somepoint - it'll finish everything in terms of matter. Anything else just delays the inevitable.

I'd have to try to stop the invention of the internet. Without the World Wide Computer Internet Web we:
1. Wouldn't have to put up with LOLcats
2. Wouldn't have to hear about another "____ Movie", as 90% of their material is lifted from Youtube and 13 year old message board posters
3. Could prevent "Two Girls, One Cup" from happening
4. Wouldn't fall into the temptation of reading SmackDown Spoilers

If I had a Time Travel machine I'd make sure it can also move. Otherwise you get the red dwarf scenario.

If I had a time machine, I would promptly destroy it.
Too much power.

I'd travel a few minutes in the past so that I could have some more time to think of a really witty and clever thing to say for this thread.

I'd go back to 1997, buy a front row seat to Survivor Series 1997, tip off Bret that if he let Shawn apply the Sharpshooter Hebner would screw him, and see how that would alter the course of wrestling history.

Could you change the timeline? Maybe whatever you do was taken into account to begin with? I mean if you went back to the 40's and did something, it would have already happened anyways. Time traveling makes no damn sense. This. If you were to back in time and change something, then it would've already happened. So if time travel is possible in the future, then there are two scenarios: 1) People from the future are responsible for a few choice things that have already happened in this timeline 2) People will only travel into the even further distant future.

I think a certain "Doctor" would have a problem with me changing the time line, so no I wouldn't.

Stephen Hawking said there's "proof" that time travel probably isn't possible: we'd be swamped by visitors from the future, which we are not, so there you go. Unless they have a "prime directive" thing going on of course. Or, if you're interested in attempting it - just borrow a spaceship and head to the nearest black hole and drive into it, but break away at the pivotal moment before you get caught in it permanently. A theory exists that since light can't escape it, time can't either...so in theory you would go back in time. Or maybe not.

Only if there was a giant alien parasite that would emerge from the ground and cause the apocalypse many years later, I somehow found out about it, and I had a team of skilled warriors, including a frog-like man and robot, to help me fight it.
