If you were set back in time, would you try change the course of time? Or if you were sprung into the future, came back with info of the future, knowing what happens, and then try to change things so said future doesn't happen? Or would you just let things stay the way they are?

Could you change the timeline? Maybe whatever you do was taken into account to begin with?
I mean if you went back to the 40's and did something, it would have already happened anyways.
Time traveling makes no damn sense.

I'd do exactly what Biff did in Back to the Future Part II, and hopefully the timeline would change the same way...
Except I would NOT kill George McFly. What's the point? With that much money, I'd be able to get way hotter chicks than Lorraine anyways.

I posted about this in a different thread, but essentially, there's a theory (Kind of akin to the methodology of the FINAL DESTINATION series) that you REALLY can'tr change death's design. And a LOT of the things many people would like to change involve death.
For Example:
9/11 JFK MLK RFK Pearl Harbor Nagasaki/Hiroshima
I mean, with the JFK example....say you did go back in time and stop the assassination in Dallas, TX from happening. More than likely, JFK would still end up getting killed SOMEHOW either later that day, or later that week, because it was death's design for him to go at that moment. All you would do is postpone the inevitable.
Time Travel is fascinating.

of course i would, but i'd create an alternate universe (where i would be trapped in.) where everything would be different from the point i went to, and this one would continue on regardless of what i'd done.

I'd love to time travel using the Futurama paradox solving Fry's ass tattoo method.

I would try to give the "past" me some hints, but in the end I like to think everything happens for a reason. Or at least I don't want to dwell to much on "what ifs", so any experience is good experience after all.
I wouldn't even try to mess with huge events like wars and such, because who knows what would happen in an altered timeline... But I'd give myself some good hints about betting ;D

Screw history. I would try to change anything and everything. Not like trying to stop a murder or anything, but like going back to the Middle Ages and making them think I was a magical wizard with my assortment of battery operated appliances. Or go back and write all of the Beatles songs before they did. Or teach the prehistoric man the art of the disco dance. It would all be for the ass, of course.

If Time Travel was possible, it would only work for the world in which it effects. For example, I go back in time 15 years and decide to kill me when I was younger.
It would only effect that world. Unless somehow when I return to the future it did effect my world and I was starting to get erased ..............
Erased from Existence.

Ok I've always wondered this.
Say you go back in time and change your own personal history. For example you change your life around a bit to a point where you'd never have to go back to change anything. Now say that does happen and you manage to change everything to what you wanted. WOuld that then mean you'd erase the part of history where you originally went back and basically erase any changes you make based on the fact you never went back to change thing to begin with?
Seriously this stuff really confuses me when I think about it. I mean, if you go back does that mean in original history you go back, and things continue on as normal based on the fact history is flowing as it should? Or does everything change, but then how does it affect you if you went forward in time again? Would that be your life, or the life of the part of you that was born in that timeline?
Ah, my head hurts.

Teach pre-historic man to disco dance? Done! www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR4VSfOF3IQI would go back and tell myself to avoid my first wife. Will save myself alot of heartache. I would also tell myself to screw college and get into the line of work I'm in now. This way I would be retiring this year instead of having 20 more years to do.
