Considering the tag team division is so dead, why don't they utilise what they have. D+D had a gimmick, got over, were an awesome team, at the very least were a proper tag team...in a division that needed teams...and they get split up and released Am I missing some reasoning?

I'm gonna guess that the limited shelf life of the gimmick, combined with the crowd apathy lead to it.

I think the value of Deuce and Domino is best illustrated by how, towards the apogee of their push they were quickly shoved off to the side and jobbed out as MNM reformed. Suddenly they stopped dominating London and Kendrick in matches, and instead never got any major wins or crowd support afterwards.
That and how fast they have been getting kicked out of WWE after how they were dissolved.

They were both incredibly bad and had no charisma.

There is the belief that a tag team should be able to stay around just because they are tag teams, even if they suck. Back in the day, people believed this about the Headbangers,T&A, La Resistance, etc and now people have been saying that about teams like D&D and the Highlanders. My belief is that they should be fired if they don't matter and are boring which these teams obviously are.

Yeah Deuce is still around but definately on the chopping block.
As for the team of Duece and Domino, they were brought in just to give the division a new fresh team to compete for the titles. I think creative had hopes that they'd set the division on fire ala the Dudley's or E&C but it didn't happen. Instead they were stuck w/ the Headbangers or Rythem and Blues.... just another team to help fill the division but in no way capable of carrying it.

duece would have been chopped same time as domino if it wasnt for his family ties- duece was expected to be repackaged into some vegas card shark gimick but i guess wwe let that one slide since he is still wearing his white t-shirt

They didn't even try to expand the gimmick. They could've done some hilarious storylines, but instead got bored with them and jobbed them out. I always thought they could've still had Domino as the greaser, since he was that in OVW and was really good at it. Alas, it was not to be.

Three reasons.
Bad in the ring.
Not over. (Slight heat garnered in post match beatdowns, Snitsky can do that)
1 Dimensional gimmick that didn't exist outside of their entrance and appearance (See Thorn, Kevin)

Look at the teams that have been called up and either failed or languished in the low-to-mid card: Highlanders - all gimmick, couldn't work a lick Cryme Tyme - all gimmick/look, very, very green in the ring D&D - all gimmick, little stands out in body of work
Compare to teams that have done well: Londrick - ambiguous gimmick, solid in-ring work Miz and Morrison - two gimmicks that have developed together, solid work Hardyz - beyond gimmick, exciting work, crowd loves/reminisces during every reunion Priceless - fresh faces with pedigree who are green but can work Colons - established+new characters with charisma, good chemistry and avg+ work
Creative LOVES gimmicks. How many guys have languished with nothing to do because creative wouldn't invest the time? It's not a wrestling show, so it wouldn't make sense to the creative team that working ability would be important. Think back to the first "I love double double e" promos from Kozlov. Someone grew the balls to say he wasn't ready, and now he's a main eventer.
Umaga and Khali are both monsters who started has mad heel gimmicks. Umaga could work, Khali couldn't. One feuded with Cena for months. the other had a blowoff moved from PPV to free TV. Khali's comedy face turn will get cheap pops during Entertainment segments, but he'll still be getting "you can't wrestle" chants when he, you know, wrestles.
Until creative realizes that while the TV-watchers are there to be entertained, the people with the true buying power generally recognize the quality of work and won't buy a Mark Henry t-shirt or a PPV with a Khali main event, they won't stop making these mistakes.
A guy like Scotty Goldman, with character and workrate, should be a license to print midcard money. He ought to be built just like comedy E&C were. Great entertainment segments. Solid matches. Goldman/MVP or Goldman/Umaga feuds would be huge secondary draws because the talent has both wrestling and gimmick going their way. D&D seemed to be shoehorned into the gimmick rather than embodying it, and fans see through that.
Even Cena, whose wrestling is kept Hogan/Warrior babyface basic, makes you believe that he is in fact a Rockin-the-Suburbs-type guy that his marine/rapper/teh oddz gimmick embodies.
So long answer only partially related to the question at hand.

I thought they had a stupid gimmick and the only reason it got over is because it was just a little above the mediocreness of what WWE has become.

I really liked Deuce, Domino and Cherry. They weren't flashy, just brawlers. But why would two greasers be these amazing wrestlers anyway? I thought they had tons of personality. And they could have easily made them more serious while retaining elements of the original gimmick.

I'm still trying to figure out why they stripped them of all personality they had in OVW and who the hell thought it was a good idea to take Cherry away from them?

I liked the tag team and thought Cherry was the hottest diva. I'd love to see TNA pick them up.
