Ok so the E! channel has been showing this all weekend and they even showed the SNL when Jon Heder hosted so Ive seen the movie a few more times and I had a few questions for the folks out there.
I love the movie and think its really funny BUT I realize a lot of you out there really hate it and my questions to you are what do you hate about it and why dont you think its funny

I thought it was hilarious the first time I saw it, but since then, it's just been down hill. I can barely stand it now. And it seems like the past few weeks whenever I'm flipping through the channels, I always come across it.

It was stupid, and very unfunny.

The only thing I really thought was funny about it was Uncle Rico.
As to why, I really couldn't tell you. I don't know. I thought the rest of the movie was alright, nothing great. I think every person in the world having to use Napoleon quotes in every conversation had a lot to do with my meh reaction to it. You hear it so much, that it just loses everything.

If you watched the Jon Heder on SNL, the first skit he plays himself and he explains why it was funny.

I don't hate it. I just find it really over rated. I shall list the ways
1. Napoleon himself is never really likeable, he's mean to pretty much everyone but because he's mocked himself we're supposed to like him? I didn't work for me
2. The A story (Napoleon does stuff, mets Pedro, does more stuff, goes to the dance, does more stuff, wild nerd dance) is so shallow it would barely fill an hour. The B story with K and Uncle Rico is so much better that I would have prefered the film Kip Dynamite
3. I don't think it's that well made. The choices that the director makes are really overly safe and never lead to anything intersting. Although with the shallow story ever this wouldn't make that much of a difference.
4. The very fact that it was overrated. I'm not one to hate on quirky indy films. In fact I hate people that hate on quirky indy films. But last year when I heard anyone call "Juno the new Napoleon Dynamite" I wanted to punch something. Juno is a far superior film.

I can't put my finger on why I didn't like it. It just wasn't funny to me. I honestly don't think I laughed once during it.

I think the reason i hated it so much was that most of my friends told me i had to see it because i would find it hilarious. Then i sat there watching it, the entire time thinking '....when is this going to get funny? why does everyone seem to think i would find this funny when its so bad?'

I don't know, I guess I never saw a plot in the movie and I did not get the jokes. I was just some guy doing stuff that can take like half an hour. Also I find it overrated.

Those of you who said you didnt laugh once:
You didnt laugh when Kip said he was "chatting online with babes all day ?"
I mean the joke is that hes so homely looking that he could never get a "babe" in real life so him saying he was chatting online with babes was funny. A guy who looks like him saying that line is funny.
Also you didnt think Pedro's accent was funny ? Unless you hear that accent every damn day I dont know you didnt think it was funny the way he spoke.
The humor is very subtle its not obvious like in mainstream comedies. You have to look beneath the surface to find it.

I did laugh at all of the Kip stuff. Like when he drove over the tupleware to show it's strengh only to crush it. Like I said early Kip Dynamite would have been a funny movie.

I think the reason i hated it so much was that most of my friends told me i had to see it because i would find it hilarious. Then i sat there watching it, the entire time thinking '....when is this going to get funny? why does everyone seem to think i would find this funny when its so bad?' I mark out for your sig pic. Back to Napoleon. I did not want to watch it, because I was bullied in hs and thought it would be more of the same. But the people who come off as dumbasses are the popular crowd. The funniest part to me is the expression on the face of the woman as Kip drives the van over the tupperware and then just drives off. Nonplussed does not begin to describe her. And I relate to Uncle Rico for "living too much in 82." It's a sweet film about losers, who face it, are most of the population. The big problem is the people who didn't get that the film was making fun of them, the assholes from back in school. They walk around the mall quoting lines and Dan and I laugh at them. It's like Swingers fans, frat boys who don't get that the movie is taking the piss out of them. And the Wal-Mart licensing obviously was greenlit by the buyer from another dimension.

It wasnt heavily reliant on psychical comedy. The humor was in the expressions and mannerisms of these weird characters.
