That's his trademark? Looking like even more of a douche by doing the big thumbs up?
If I was a wrestler I'd groan the moment I saw this guy heading my way.

I don't know who to side with.
On one hand, there is no uncertain amount of evidence from past stories of meeting and running into Punk that he's typically friendly with fans, because it really doesn't seem like he is. I'm not sure if it's impolite or curt or whatever, but he's certainly not a John Cena type who will be incredibly humble and try and give you as much time as he can. This is something that I personally think shows a good amount of bias in the IWC: People enjoy Punk more than Cena so he's likely to get off easier from a bad encounter with a fan. Also, despite this guy's deeply devoted tendencies, he seems to be polite enough.
On the other hand, the fan should not expect too much from these people (despite their wild careers, they're just folks who have problems and tics and anxieties all of their own), and there is no point in pursuing them if they're going to be cocks about things. I do interviews with bands and have spoken to probably nearly two dozen people in this year, and there are ones who do understand that they are, all said and done, very lucky to do what they are and very grateful or interested to speak with someone who is interested in them (if nothing else, they feign it really well). Then, there are the hot Shazbot folks who believe that you should feel grateful for being able to have a few moments with them anyhow and will make no attempt to disguise the fact that they're annoyed. What it comes down to is common sense: If the person's nice, pursue talking to him or her; if not, snork 'em and move on. This guy knew that CM Punk was the latter type and still kept talking.
With that said, I think the crap spewed towards this guy at the other board linked is pretty cruel and asinine, but hey, it's the Internet, and anonymity can allow anyone to mock others to their own delight. Not to use the typical "You can't get a girlfriend!" argument towards that's used towards people that insult Divas, but I would love to see A) how all of the people insulting this guy look (in light of all the body jokes), and B) how they act around meeting wrestlers.
EDIT: Shazbot? Really? The 0987654321 stuff or whatever was way better than this filter.

Punk is seriously like this in real life. I met him 3 times, I like meet him everytime hes over here and hes always his sarcastic dickhead self who has an obsession with people saying please (note: I always said please and never had a bad encounter with him). He does however mean it in a funny way, not in a serious way. He always takes pics when I ask anyways, i guess it depends when and how you ask... I got him when he was just standing doing nothing. I don't bother them any other times and before you ask; no. I am not a fat 40 year old smark who turns up to thanksgiving every year without a date

I met Punk once and the first thing he said to me was, "Alright, you're going to have to spell your name out for me because I am retarded." then he put the wrong name down (he crossed it out and put the correct name later). And we just acted like smartasses with each other until he looked over to Rory from the Highlanders and said, "This kid's f***in' funny."
So yeah, he's a smartass, but not a dickhead.

OK, so if I'm reading this right, the big issue seems to be, with Punk, that he wants people to say please to get a pic or autograph. Wonder what the kid thinks of Bob Backlund and his "recite the presidents if you want an autograph"?

If you're going to meet CM Punk you need to come prepared and educated.
1. Be calm, don't be an internet smark in terms of asking if he wishes he was a heel; he'll then heel on you. General ROH questions are fine. 2. If you're a teenage girl, you automatically have a serious shield against CM Punk, he'll be cordial. If you're a fat woman, he'll be cordial. The female race calms him down. 3. Try to place yourself in his shoes at the exact time as you meet him and say please and thank you when appropriate.
4. If all else fails, claim you're from Chicago and you hate the Cubs. Surprisingly, he'll likely laugh.

comment from the site i got it from . This kind of crap pisses me off. What did the guy do to these people to deserve a person an attack like that? I don't blame him for making his account private now. As an aside, that ring looks horrible. To the indie wrestlers on this board I ask this; how safe does it look? Is it as dangerous to work in as it looks?

Considering the ring is caving in ala Brock/Big Show...it doesn't look very safe..talking from experience here..someone's likely to get hurt.

My favorite part of the story has to be the guy asking for a picture with Punk, AFTER he supposedly wished death on half the assembled crowd. I guess our superfan assumed he wasn't part of that 50%.

Here's my two cents on this situation. I've interviewed many wrestlers and celebrities in general (I work in radio), and you have to realize that first and foremost these are just people like everyone else. They have their good days and their bad days. Some wrestlers are friendlier than others when it comes to meeting fans. From my personal experiences, John Cena, Big Show, and Candice Michelle are the most cordial ones that I've come in contact with (Cena seems humble, Big Show is hilarious and Candace is really sweet). I haven't had any really bad experiences concerning wrestlers yet, but some are more private than others. And even though the guy who wrote the letter to CM Punk seems to be a little on the obsessive side of wrestling fans, I don't think he deserves the ridicule and personal attacks from other members of the message board.

I can totally see where Punk is coming from on this, obviously, and frankly it's pretty hilarious. I would do the same in his position.

Who the hell waits for wrestlers at the airport? I work at an airport and even I wouldn't think of scoping them out. I've run into a few coincidentally and it's pretty clear the last thing they want to do after a show and going through security is talk and entertain you on their off-time.

Who the hell waits for wrestlers at the airport? I do. It's cool as I only do it once or twice a year I do agree that some fans don't get that this is their personal time and they don't have to do it. I am not going to shoot off an email to Taker because he doesn't acknowledge us, me and friends will just say, "Taker is being Taker."
