The thing is some of the wrestlers go out of their way for fans like Cena and HHH. There's multiple stories about how Cena is the most approachable guy in the world and is very humble to his fans. And with HHH its the same. Hell there was a story once a few years back about a group of fans stranded outside on a freezing cold night after a show because their bus broke down. HHH saw them and out of his own pocket paid for them to have pizza and paid for alternative transport so they could get home. Uberfans are annoying but Punk didn't need to be so rude.

Punk is awesome, I would have done the same thing.
Getting pictures and autographs are pointless and overrated.

I didn't bother reading the ramblings of a pissed off fan, and just barely skimmed through page 1.
But I know how I am. I normally hate pictures in general. And I hate being bothered when I'm trying to eat dinner. So yeah, if someone I didn't know tried shouting "Hey" and grabbing a quick picture, the best they'd probably get is a very angry-looking picture of me giving them the bird. Especially if it's fairly obvious I'm already in a bad mood.
Granted, I'm not a celebrity. But that's how I respond to friends and family trying to take pictures of me without my knowledge or consent. I hate pictures.

The 'Angry Fan' should have realised that Punk was not in the best mood, especially if he saw that Punk looked irritated and was limping.
Could Punk have been more civil about it? Well of course. Should this fan have realized that it wasn't the time? Yes

Hadn't he just got off a plane? If he had another one to catch or whatever then ok he couldn't sign or take a picture but he at least could have been polite. I have an Austin tape (Hell Yeah from 1999), a lady asks him for an auto WHILST HE'S DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY!!!! And he's still polite about being unable to. Of course you could refuse after 15 minutes, I'd do the same. But I'd (and I'm certain you would to) point them in the direction of someone who could help them. Unfortunately Punk can't go "I'm not on duty but hey, ask Kofi Kingston!" instead. Fair enough, but the e-mail's ambiguous as to where they were waiting for the wrestlers and how much time passed between the plane's arrival and their encounter with Punk. I always take these stories with a grain of salt, as: 1. They could be fabricated 2. We only get the writer's side of the story 3. We have no idea of the context of what was going: no idea about time passed, physical condition of the person (Punk limping), the actual tone of any language used or gestures that were involved, etc. Maybe Punk's a prick, I dunno, but I can't make that judgment call unless I actually had a bad experience with him. And, even if he's a prick, so what? I know lots of them, it doesn't effect me too much. I've had a brush with two celebrities in my life: one signed lots of autographs and though, seemingly bored and tired, he spent time talking to a young child and his parents, and was nice when he talked to me, after signing about 4o or so other autographs. The other celebrity, in similar context (meeting people as they leave after a play), signed only a handful of autographs and then left. She seemed pretty cold, but I don't hold it against her. I have no idea what was going on with her that moment or how crowded it would have been, etc. Of course all the factors you listed could come in to it, I'm just commenting on what I think should the story be true. Thus far, we have no reason to believe it's not. And it doesn't affect me of course not, I just feel bad that the fan was disrespected by a person he was a supporter of in his career and then by a bunch of douches on other forums.

The plane probably didn't serve Pepsi, that's a long time for Punk to go without it's sugary goodness, no wonder he was pissed off.
If the guy was as thoughtful as he said he was he would have bought a refreshing beverage for him and one of those cookies with smarties in too.

Man, Triple H is f***ing awesome. Now that is the way to treat fans. If that story is true, I have so much respect for him.

All I want to say is that I have a picture with CM Punk, so this guy is jealous of me and I got his autograph.
Then again, I wasn't sitting inside an airport at 6am, it was at his ECW on Sci-Fi debut, outside the show.

Many a time I've been in there just to buy something and helped a customer for the simple fact that I don't wish to be rude or mind helping them. Fact is, Punk wasn't off duty. He was out in public and the public are the people who watch him. He's off duty once he gets in his house, just like I am. If he's around fans, the arena etc he should be prepared for what comes with it. If this fan had knocked on Punk's door and asked for a photo or autograph, yes he would be bang out of order. In an airport, I don't think it's such an outlandish request. That's ridiculous, when Punk(or any wrestler) is at a WWE event or signing or whatever he's on the clock. Now as celebrities they of course CAN allow themselves to be approached in thier free time and be as polite as they want to thier fanbase, however they are not obligated to drop everything so they themselves can have no life outside of thier house to placate every single fan, because in the end not every fan will appreciate them anyway. Look at Cena, apparently the most approachable/nice guy ever, and people still boo him at live events. Punk was tired, and probably cranky, was he rude, yeah a little, was the guy camped out at 6am at the airport expecting a little much, yeah. I'm not saying Punk was in the right, just saying if I was just getting off a jet after an overseas flight I'd have been kinda a bitch to deal with too.

This guy would hate the 80s.
In Jericho's book, he tells a story about how Sika tells him to f*** off, how Dynamite Kid says "don't even f***in' try it" when Jericho approached him for an autograph, and how Honky Tonk Man would "slap his face" if Jericho approached him.
Punk was practically nice about it.

as a rule, wrestlers tend to be themselves when tired and angry, and often that doesn't come across too well, and a negative gets exaggerated. for instance, everyone who knows him and has been asked about him says that batista's a shy guy who isn't good with words. that translates to "ignoring fans". anytime a wrestler speaks about randy orton, they say that he is very open and blatant about things, which tanslates to being an arrogant prick. if you've heard accounts from punk's friends in the biz, they say that he's a smartass and an old-school gent. therefore, he's gonna come across as a cocky prick who's anal about manners.
to judge someone based on one meeting, at a moment when they're a bit worse for wear, is a bit daft.
and as for the question about the ring, as it seems to be positioned like a sinking titanic, i wouldn't say it's too safe.

The real CM Punk still exists!!! I'd been getting worried that he'd turned into a goody-goody lately with how badly WWE is pushing him as a babyface role model. Glad to see he can still be a douche to annoying fans.
Too bad he didn't say "I want to punch half you guys right in the Adam's apple!" instead. ;D

I love how so many fans think that celebrities owe it to them to bend over backwards for them at any time.
