Don't you see all the people call stuff "gay" to mean it sucks Now, I'm straight, but from experience in my area, the use of the word "Gay" has evolved quite a bit from when I was a kid atleast when being used for something other then describing the homosexual community. When I was younger, when it was used out of context it was usually done with much more malice ("Dude, those shoes make you look really gay") and I can totally understand that being insulting to gay people. But now, the use of the word has become normalized, where it's not being used with the insulting undertones of before ("Gay, I broke my X-Box") Now, as I said I'm straight so I don't know how you're opinions are but for the most part if a 14 year old says it's "Gay that Mr Denton gave us homework for spring break" I don't think it's has the same meaning as when I was 12 and "Gay" was a huge insult. But that's me, I'd love to hear others opinions on that

If I can play Devil's Advocate here... I think the whole outside scene has more to do with the "smurf you" line itself than with the sexual preference of who said it. The "he wanted to kiss you" line was indeed stupid and tasteless, but, I guess, you should know better than retaliate with a "smurf you", that would, most likely, make matters worse. And so it did. Perhaps, but it was more of a dismissive f*** you than a confrontational one. Doesn't matter too much I suppose.

people like that are flat out morons trying to make up for their own issues. i should know, i used to be one to be honest. the only good thing about people who say bollocks like "no one says f**k you to me!" is that eventually they'll meet someone who responds by saying "well, i do" and knocking them on their ass. that inbred'll get humbled eventually.
and i don't even need to explain how retarded the whole concept of homophobia is.

That's what I'm thinking too. If it was a case of gay bashing, wouldn't that mean he'd be trying to physically harm you, hence the "bash" part? And wouldn't he have been trying to call you offensive names rather than objecting to the use of "snork you"? When I saw this thread, I thought it was a case of someone getting beat up while having offensive words slung at him. This seems more like a case of a jerk getting bent out of shape because you cussed at him than in someone trying to bash you because you're gay.

You shoulda said something along the lines of
"Im rubber your glue, it bounces of me and sticks to you" and then take off in your car while he ponders that deep thought and his freinds rag on him for getting PWNED

Maybe he meant that he wanted to kiss you, and that was just his odd way of calling you cute. As opposed to the many crappers who say they want to rape you.
All joking aside, of course it still exist, especially with 20-somethings. These overpumped, monster fueled, overly hormonic douchebags will always find a way to ruin a good time. gay or straight.

The one thing I can't stand in this world is people like that. Such a shame.
Come to Lawrence bro, there really isn't too much bashing up here considering the size of the gay community here.

Again, though... if the guy was pissed at him for being gay, why wouldn't he do something like call him a homophobic name? Or is it now the cool thing for homophobes to lash out at the object of their hate WITHOUT using hateful slurs? I get that the OPs "snork you" was a reaction, and I'd have likely done the same. But so too was what the angry fellow did after the "snork you". He was reacting badly to the snork you, hence referencing that when he followed the OP out, not any gayness or whatever on the part of the OP. He didn't follow the OP out to try to confront him about a perceived attempt at kissing another dude or to harrass him for his sexual orientation; he followed him 'cause he was a full-of-himself "tough" guy who didn't like having someone tell him off. Or, that's the impression I got from the guy's choice of words after he left the bar, at least. I'm not saying the guy in question is an upright citizen or anything... but it looks like people are really trying to stretch things to label this a gay bash.

I like the cut of your jib sir! Seriously, Dude, props to you for not letting it get to you too much, and for having a realistic view of what to do, should this guy try to prove his tiny sense of self worth by doing something rash.

Kansas is very very christian base which is probably where a lot of it comes from but I won't expand on that because it will be breaking the rules.

Indeed, what sexrunner said. This is pretty much the "Gay Capital of Kansas. " Not that there is much competition, and we have Fred Phelps and his mentally challenged inbred family 30 miles west. ><

Things like this are why I don't go out to clubs as much as I would like to. Not that I'm gay, or there is a lot of gay bashing where I live. It seems like the drunk asshole population has doubled in the last year. You look at somebody the wrong way or accidentally bump into someone and there is a brawl. It's not just one on one fights anymore either. I'm go to the club to have a good time, dance and drink. I have no idea why you would go to the club or bar and look for fights. Usually it's the way-too-gelled hair, fake tanned, generic tribal tattoo having, Tap-Out wearing, steroid using, Jäger-bomb drinking guys that are the main culprits.

All I'm saying is that it's mostly these guys that are assholes. Gay or straight. Hell I went to a gay bar last week. There's a whole world of gays. THere's the artsy fartsy gays who dress like art school chicks, the gays who dress like they're america's best dance crew, black gays, Gay Cowboys who roamed the club shirtless (THIs is true, I know it sounds out there but there were many gay leather clad cowboys) There were also Affliction attired douchebag gays. Eh. I think the population is overrun by two types of guys, the overly effeminate but trying to assert themselves as men, and the overly homophobic dude who watches UFC and uses "EXTREME" in their vocabulary. Both need a good slap some times. Oh and I'll also say this I hate that the tool/douchebag community has been using fedoras and scarves in their wardrobes. It just isn't that cool. yeah in this instance I'm targeting my fellow filipinos. I hate douchebags of all kinds, it's just that my race being douchebags sets me over the edge.

But he wasn't following you out of the bar to yell at you about that, else he would have referenced it. He was following you to stick out his chest and claim no one should say "snork you" to him. That may make him a deluded douche concerned with maintaining some sort of tough-guy persona, but that hardly constitutes as a gay bash.

i think we should leave the gay bashers alone, its their choice to be homophobic and they are entitled to their opinion, if someone hates u because your gay then u ignore them, its quite simple, the op seemed to have handled the situation well and im sure hes stronger because of it
