For every finisher that gets associated with a guy, there's always a few finishers that are used sparingly or even once, and then never reappear again, for the most part. (Except in the Smackdown! vs. Raw games for years, sometimes for near-decades a time.)
One that I remember was with Johnny Nitro (you know, Morrison pre-Dirt Sheet), when he used the Rude Awakening as a finisher and I thought it fit him really well. So of course he dropped it, and never used it again. But I think he turned out alright in the end.
Who else used a finisher that was ahead of its time or just completely out of place?

Regal used a really cool Arm Trap Neckbreaker called the Regal Cutter all of once.

Punk doesn't use the Vice anymore which sucks becuase I think it's a great move. You'd have thought that they'd get him to use it once in a while in big matches.

The first thing that comes to mind is Kozlov's underhand DDT driver thingy. It was alright, but it wasn't finishing move material. I think his Rydeen Bomb chokeout slam move fits him much better.

Didn't Undertaker have a Dragon Sleeper called the "Taking Care of Business" or something along those lines? That didn't last long.

The Undertaker's Last Ride Well teh Last ride is still used from time to time though... Triple H's Dragon Sleeper HHH had the regular sleeper as a finisher for a few weeks in the fall of 2002. Taker was the one who used the Dragon Sleeper.

The Undertaker's Last Ride I don't really think that counts. I think the topic is more about fly-by-night finishers that got used just a handful of times. Taker used the Last Ride during his entire BikerTaker run which lasted a good four years straight.

Randy Orton's Overdrive.
It's just...it's just such a bad move.

Edges submission move (Edge-ecution is it?) Paul Burchills over the shoulder half boston crab that he used a grand total of once. It was a pretty sick submission move too that I wish he'd kept. Paul Burchills C4 Paul Burchills Royal Mutilation (wow Burchills been screwed when it comes to having to drop finishers...) Finlays Celtic Knot Beths glam slam into the submission move version
