Tommy Dreamer should have retired a long time ago. It's better than disgracing his legacy as a generic jobber on a show where he has to pretend that this version of ECW has any connection with the actual ECW. Tommy Dreamer jobbed in regular ECW about as much. It's just what Tommy does, it's what makes him special. Always has been. Besides, it's not like this mysterious aura of the ECW's past pays anyone's bills. Would you rather Tommy get made fun of like Shane Douglas and Justin Credible by fans with a massively overgrown sense of entitlement?

Will Tommy and Paul E. get together and for a new promotion? They could use some of the following: Raven, New Jack, Super Crazy, Tajiri, RVD (if he wants to come back), Sandman, Shane (if he can get off at Target), Corino (?)

He could be.
I mean if they released guys like Val Venis, Big Daddy V, Sgt. Slaughter and Bruce Prichard who I always thought were WWE "for life". I'm pretty sure they have no problem with letting Tommy Dreamer go as well.

I wonder: when he does leave the ring, will he still have a backstage job? Hasn't he been part of developmental relations?

I would like for Tommy to win the belt in one last crazy hardcore match that involves signature ECW spots like flaming tables and the like.
Then he retires with it. Gives a speech about the years he spent in ECW sacrificing his body, watching the old generation turn over into the new. He can put over past ECW champions. Say that he just wanted to prove one last time that an extreme attitude and hardcore spirit still survives within the current ECW and he proved it one last time.
Then he can talk about newer champions and put them over as well as the younger guys who havent gotten a shot yet. He can say that ECW has evolved and went into a different direction, and it is time for the last of the old guard to hand over the reigns to the newer generation. Tommy says that those three letters, and the ECW Title mean more than anything to him. He loves the gold and those three letters, ECW. So much so, that he is going to do what you should do to something you love and set it free. He wants to give the newer generation a chance to help ECW prosper.
Then he hands over the belt and a tournament is set up.
Tommy has always been about putting other guys over, and I think that the best way he could put them over is to retireand hand over the belt...his character is entirely built around his love and loyalty to ECW as well, so it seems to me like the ultimate culmination of the Dreamer story.
Sure he could just go the mile and lose at the finish, but he ALWAYS does that...it wont really put anyone over to beat Dreamer.
